Since the mid-90's I've been avoiding the "other" clam shack in Essex and bee-lining to Farnham's for my fix of fried wonders. Farnham's prices have increased over the past 2 years so the range is now 8-35 for food orders, with $35 being the large order of whole clams. The food is always great and if you love fried clams you'll not want to miss Farnham's. Woodman's tends to get bigger crowds, mainly because they have 5x the capacity to hold patrons. But their food is not even close to the food you'll get a Farnham's.

The family and I went to Farnham's this past Mother's day after a day at the Beach - yes the beach in May (Yeah Good Harbor!), Although the wait was longer than usual the quality was spot-on and great as always.

This place sits on the edge of the marsh off of Route 133, and the views and outdoor sitting are just perfect for munching with your family, friends or significant others. Avoid the crush of the mega store Woodman's and get a taste of the real Essex and drive straight to Farnham's.

This eat-in-the rough restaurant is located on Rte. 133 in Essex. Among other fried seafood offerings it offers some of the best fried clams in the area. It has a small inside dining area, and parking is limited (do not park on the bridge or you will get a ticket). The view from the dining room overlooks the salt water marsh. The clams are local, fresh and cooked to perfection .....not too greasy.

Hi I've been eating at Farnham's for over 20 years. It's simply the best. Occasonally, it's difficult to get a table but the food is soooo good, it's worth the wait. Just beyond belief..Always..

The food is very good....not great but very good.....On a summer weekend avoid this place. Total confusion and no place to park. There is plenty of good seafood up in that area. The locals directed us toward a few. We did eat at J.T.Farnhams on a weekday and the view is spectacular and yes the food is very good.

I prefer them over Woodmans clams. The batter is perfect and it will cost you over $20. You do get a very good portion and they have smaller plates.J.T. Farnhams, Clam Box, and Woodmans are the best in t he area any of those and you won't go wroung.
