“Make time for Paradise Island!”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

We took a tour to Paradise Island and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The bus ride to Paradise Island itself is kind of long, but you get to see the countryside and go through a couple towns. When we arrived, we were given life jackets and whisked away on a speedboat to the island. The ride out was fun. The island itself is very small. Not even the length of a football field. Try to get there early before it's overrun with tourists. They took groups of people out to snorkel and I was late getting my gear on, so the tour guide took me out after everyone. It was wonderful service and a really cool relaxed snorkel. When we got back there was fresh fruit cut up and ready for us to eat and soda for us to drink. For the rest of our trip there we lounged in the sun and took pictures. Make sure to use the bathroom before leaving the main shore and don't bring anything valuable. There are no lockers on Paradise Island, just huts where you can place things. And that's if they aren't taken already. We left late afternoon and they took us around to see the mangroves and give us some history. When we arrived back on shore, we had dinner, which was included in our tour. It was absolutely delicious! Hands down one of the best meals we had. The mamajuana (their national drink) and other alcohol was also flowing. The trip was a good time AND perfectly timed. We didn't feel like it was too short or too long and we had enough time to do a little bit of everything. A must do on the trip.

“Nice place to visit”

This was a nice little day trip. The guide took us through the mangroves on the way to the island which was pretty neat. The island was great and provided great sun and awesome snorkelling.

“Very good snorkeling on the north side of the DR”

Cool day trip to do snorkeling and see the mangroves. Our tour included snacks and drinks before you go to the island; during you stay there and a nice lunch when you get back.

“Like a peaceful jurassic park”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

The boat trip takes you into idyllic waters with many tiny islands. The huge pelicans and vultures skimming across the waters in their hundreds have to be seen to be believed. On the way back a dolphin pod swam alongside what more could you wish for!

The indian caves are interesting but do not expect too much and it is dificult walking for the less able - you can opt to remain on the boat and it is not for long.
