The Coonamessett Inn is one of those old charming inns that you didn't think existed any more! We stayed there for a wedding the second weekend in June 2012. The check-in at the "front desk" was highly personal and friendly - there really is a desk, set back a little from the main entry, not a long counter such as you'd find typically at a hotel.
The setting is pretty idyllic - with lots of lovely landscaping, the inn is situated above a small pond so there are views from a lot of the rooms and different spots on the pretty grounds...we were here in early June -and the weather couldn't have been more perfect - every plant and tree and flower seemed to be at its peak.
There is a charming lounge and dining room, that serve very good food - we had the clam chowder and the Reuben for lunch when we first arrived- both delish! (Feel free to check out my review of La Cucina for dinner that night.)
The food at the wedding reception the next day was among the best I've ever had at a wedding. There were lots of delicious hors d'ouerves; my meal choice was schrod - I was expecting the typical wedding fare of dried out tepid fish but I was served a lovely hot, moist truly delicious schrod - what a terrific unexpected pleasure!
The Inn serves a continental breakfast that we took advantage of on only the second day (feel free to check out my review of the Country Fare for breakfast) - super fresh pastries and fresh fresh fruit.
Oh the room - almost forgot! Very roomy bright rooms - we had room #1 - which was an end-unit so it was extra bright - there is a small seating area with a small fridge and sofa and cofee table with a door leading to the bedroom, so one can watch the tv without disturbing your roommate.
The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was fine/adequate.
My only suggestion would be for the innkeepers to add some hooks or rods in the bathroom for hanging wet towels - we had to use the hooks in the walk-in (!) closet.
I would go back to the Coonamessett in a heartbeat - it's a very special spot - romantic, a little old-fashioned in a good sort of way, and very close to downtown Falmouth, Woods Hole, and the Marhta's Vineyard ferries.

Room Tip: We loved room #1; it's in an out-building just a short walk from the main building and it overlo...

I wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful service that you gave to my 93 year old Mom. We came to eat lunch with you, and Mom was having a difficult time walking from the front entrance. The gentleman at the desk went and got Mom one of the leather love seats and pushed her to our table. How very thoughtful he was.
Then after lunch, he and our waiter pushed Mom all the way to the front entrance to our car.

It was a very memorable afternoon! On top of the wonderful service, the food was delicious!!!!

Thank you again......

We had our daughter's wedding reception here 2 years ago so we decided to return for a relaxing couple of days. The food, lodging which has been updated and service were all superb and the price is reasonable.

One of our client's office is located in Falmouth so whenever we have to visit them and we stay overnight we usually stay here. It has a very cottage like feel but very clean and comfortable. I have only ever eaten breakfast here so I can't comment on any other meals but breakfast is good.

We stayed here this past July with our 3 kids and really enjoyed it. We rented a 2 bedroom, which was very clean and comfortable. The decor was a tad late 80's but certainly not tacky. We absolutely loved sitting in the bar and chatting with the female bartender, who was a local and very cool and friendly. We are from Louisiana and we wanted to really feel like we were in Cape Cod, not the local chain hotel. Everyone was very friendly too. We ate in the restaurant for dinner. The food was good, but not outstanding, but we are from Louisiana, and it is tough to live up to our restaurants. The neat atmosphere of the restaurant made it a lovely dining experience. i would stay here again. It is also very close to the bus that takes you to the fairy to Martha's Vineyard.

A crackling fire, local residents sitting at intimate areas of the dining room and bar, wonderful service -- what more would you want. We selected the special dining (includes all) and had
a sumptuos pork and apple pork loin -- house salad, wonderful rolls and then those desserts.
Can't beat the price and atmosphere. It was off season (November) and the service was
wonderful and unhurried! Don't miss the Cape in November. Perfect! judycutie
