“Second stay at the Captain's Manor”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

My wife and I just got back from our second relaxing stay at the Captain's Manor in as many years. My wife found the inn on the web last year and we decided to try it. We were very pleased with our stay so stayed again this year - even in the same room. The accommodations are very nice in far too many ways to explain. The innkeepers are very friendly and inviting. The breakfasts are unique every day and they are top notch. The inn is within walking distance of downtown and is close to the bike trail to Woods Hole.

I have done a lot of traveling but I have never been more comfortable away from home than I was at The Captin's Manor. Very nice place with a laid back feel. And, the breakfast was great! The hosts were very welcoming and provided first class service. If you are thinking about travelling to Cape Cod you need to book this place in advance as they are becoming a well known secret.

We had never stayed at a B&B in the states before, and this was a real treat! The 4 Seasons has nothing on The Captain's Manor Inn. We've stayed at many 4 Seasons Resorts and this was every bit as beautiful and wonderful! The breakfasts were fabulous, our hosts were so warm and welcoming and helpful, and the location was perfect! We parked our car upon arrival and never used it again during our stay. The town is a short walk, the free bus took us right to the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard, it was all perfect. Kevin and Trish have thought of everything! The only problem was that we had to leave....

Two blocks from downtown Falmouth's restaurants and shops, and walking distance to its beaches, the Captain's Manor represents the best of both worlds--a quiet oasis from downtown's bustle for those who want to read a book on its large porch or backyard lawn but at the same time a short walk to Falmouth's beaches as well as its downtown and a pretty easy bike ride to the Vineyard ferry and the attractions of Woods Hole. The Captain gets it right in all ways, both big and small. It is clean as a whistle, has gorgeous grounds, has been wonderfully restored to its past glory and is run by folks who are both genuine and friendly. I wish our stay was longer, and look forward to coming back soon.

My only quibble, which is directed at the Town of Falmouth rather than the owners of the CM since they cannot control this: The portion of the street where the CM (and several other B&B's) is located could use more illumination on both sides of the street. It's not at all unsafe but there are few if any street lights on this stretch of the road and the Town should install more of them for both safety reasons and to show off the wonderful row of B&Bs, wonderful old homes and the public common that surrounds the CM.

When I stay at a B&B or an Inn, I like cleanliness, comfort, location, helpful hosts, and a great breakfast ~ but I also enjoy a bit of history and a 'story'! Captain's Manor (House) Inn met all of my requirements perfectly! Owned & managed by Kevin & Trish Robinson, the New Orleans styled inn is lovely, nicely decorated and immaculate. You also could not receive a warmer or friendlier welcome ~ Trish made us feel as though we were friends, staying in her lovely home. The height of organization, she anticipates your needs & questions, while adding a dash of her cheerful humor to all conversations. Kevin, we learned is not only a talented golfer, but a talented chef (he claims 'only the cook': Each morning he serves up delicious, colorful fresh fruit cups, accompanied by aromatic muffins. Just when you think breakfast is over....out comes Trish, Kevin or one of their helpful staff, sliding a circular-shaped omelet & crispy bacon....or to-die-for (do people still say that?) slices of French toast with a special twist...onto your plate! Their 'bistro' area daily holds a delicious little surprise (yum!) for each room's guests. Another bonus: no waiting in line if you wish to day-trip to Martha's Vineyard....Trish or Kevin can sell you your ticket at the Inn ~ and they will steer you to the free Woods Hole shuttle bus (a 15 minute walk away), which drops you right at the Ferry landing. Could tell you lots more about the joys of the Captain's Manor Inn, but I seem to have gotten sidetracked by all of that delicious food! Ask the Robinsons about 'Mostly Inn' and 'the Whaling Captain & his New Orleans' Bride'...and their very first guest at the Inn! Did I mention the beautifully landscaped lawns, flowers & chaise lounges? Oh, and those incredible showers! Well, to learn more, just go, enjoy, relax, and experience this pristine, historic gem, in Falmouth, on good old Cape Cod!

After just one stay, the Captain's Manor Inn has become the default for our yearly pilgrimage to the Cape for the Falmouth Road Race. Everything was top notch: the room was charming, clean, and well appointed. The breakfasts were outstanding, probably the best B&B food we've had. The innkeepers were friendly, helpful, and quick to make us feel at home, right from check-in. And the inn is right down the street from Falmouth center, where there's no shortage of restaurants, bars, quaint shops, and entertainment options. All in all, an exceptional stay. We'll be back soon.

Room Tip: The sheets are something else! Super comfortable, Westin "Heavenly Bed" quality, if not su...

This inn is located at a very good location in Falmouth. Only a 5 minute walk to the centre with its fine shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful inn which is well restored and well appointed. We saw it on an early 1900 map but is was then owned by a certain Lawrence. To run and maintain such places is an art in itself and we feel it as a privilege to be able to stay there. This privilege is enhanced by the hosts who make you feel at ease. Apart from that they serve a good breakfast and fine coffee. Thank you Trish for helping me to find a doctor for my eye problem. It is almost over now.

We stayed in a downstairs room which is OK. There is a lot of privacy as the veranda in front of the room is reserved for guests in that room. Sitting there s nice and relaxing.

If there is one thing to remark: I would suggest to serve also a health breakfast
