Excellent family campground.
Clean showers and bathrooms, play area for kids.
Right on the shining sea bikeway.
Sites are good size, power available.
Friendly and helpful staff.

My boyfriend and I have just spent 5 nights here. I feel torn about how I should write this review as the campground owners were very friendly and very helpful. The grounds are lovely, the bathrooms are pretty clean and the facilities such as the laundry work well.
However there was a large problem. We booked 5 nights in a Tipi. The Tipi looked great and was raised on wooden flooring. Make sure that you bring a blow up bed as the wood would not be good to sleep on.
Our first 3 nights in the Tipi went well but one morning it started to rain. My boyfriend wondered if the Tipi would keep the rain out. I told him that of course it would, you don't pay 70 dollars a night to sleep in something that won't keep rain off of you!
It turns out that I was wrong. The rain came flooding in from the top of the Tipi. We had to fold our bed up and eventually moved our things into the car as everything was getting wet. I went to the office and they were very helpful and moved us into a wooden hut called the Birdhouse. It was great and kept us dry but I was left wondering where they would have put us if they had been fully booked.
If there is any chance of rain during your trip then think twice before booking a Tipi.

A peaceful feeling comes over you as soon as you get out of your car. The people that own and operate the campground are salt of the earth people and so is everyone else that works there. We stayed for five nights. The staff is very helpful, campground is very quiet, but busy enough that kids feel at home, close to the beach, clean, and bathrooms are very clean and the showers are free of charge. Planning now for next year.

The pros:

This campground is in a fabulous location! We were able to ride our bikes to the MV ferry (about 5.24 miles, not bad on a bike).

When we showed up the woman in the store was very helpful. She checked us in, gave us maps and ticket info about the MV ferry. They sell tickets right there, which is very helpful and saved us a lot of time at the dock.

The campground was very clean and there are bathrooms with showers that are cleaned regularly. The showers are actually hot and we didn't have to wait long for a shower to become available.

The cons:

The campsite is set up kind of weird. Campers and tents are all mixed in with each other and some of the sites are pretty close together. We were fortunate enough to get a site that was somewhat by itself.

Quiet hours are from 10pm-8am and fires need to be out at midnight. It was kind of nice that we could keep the fire until midnight but we couldn't really talk because of quite hours so we just went to bed shortly after 10. I think it would make more sense for them to section the campground into two sections: family and adult.

Staff was friendly and helpful but for some reason people staying there were not very nice (not the campground's fault, just a statement). No one smiles at you and you say hi as you walk by and they look at you like you're crazy. Now I'm from RI so it's not like this place is very far removed from home for me. Why the attitude?

All in all, it is a good campground and I would return.

The positives included the cleanest campground bathrooms I've seen and a very quiet camp after 10pm (really, it seemed like everyone went to bed at 10pm - hardly any noise from campers). Some setbacks were the size of the site (we had two tents, and between those, the fire ring, the picnic table, and the car, there wasn't any extra space - tents were close to the fire), the closeness of other sites (fortunately our neighbors were all respectful and quiet), and the difficulty starting fires (ring is small and deep, and wood we bought there was wet - bring a fire starter, seasoned kindling, lighter fluid, etc.). We were near a road but the cars were quiet enough, and the area was still wooded and cozy.
