Owner description: Highfield Hall & Gardens, a five-star rated destination, is a magnificent Victorian mansion with beautiful gardens located in the heart of Falmouth. Highfield Hall is an active cultural center offering international art exhibitions, concerts, festivals, culinary classes, family programs and educational opportunities. The mansion is surrounded by nearly 400 acres of public conservation land and walking trails. As a "must see" on Cape Cod, plan to spend an hour or a day at this family friendly estate.

Once a summer home for a wealthy Boston family, Highfield Hall is now a restored home that specializes in art exhibits, children's' art programs and can also be rented for weddings. One can tour the home, lawn and outside gardens for a suggested donation of $5/person. Enjoy the sunken garden and lawn in the front and another lower garden, verandah and lawn in the back and some very old and interesting trees in the yard. One can do the whole visit in an hour or so and Highfield is very close to downtown Falmouth and a few miles from Woods Hole.

Highfield Hall has been meticulously restored, to become a center for arts and events. The grounds are beautiful, the changing art exhibits unfailingly interesting, and the staff helpful. Thanks to a groundswell of local support, the very deteriorated building was saved, and it has become a stunning addition to Falmouth.

Highfield Hall is a wonderful place to visit if you are interested in old family history and great tales of challenges and dreams. There is a wonderful pictorial history as soon as you enter the hall. Tours can be scheduled and are offered at different times of the week and the history of the Beebe family is fascinating. The grounds are magnificent as are the wonderful furnishings of the mansion. I believe there are over 400 acres of grounds with hiking trails. Be sure to pick up a map at the Hall, because that's a lot of trails! There are many activities offered from early spring through the beginning of the holiday season . Classes in cooking, gardening, music history are some if the many goings on at Highfield. Concerts are scheduled on a regular basis and the music director makes every famous musician come to life in his presentations. The grounds are home to many magical outside exhibits. Last year was the summer of "fairie houses or gardens"- miniature castles and homes hidden throughout the grounds. This year is a "Portals and Passageways" exhibit that opened in early July. Great fun and food for thought. I am lucky to be able to spend a lot of time in Falmouth and at Highfield!
