“Met our expectations”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Great location. Well situated, close proximity to ferries and town. Service was friendly and attentive. Our room was spotless and quiet, despite the amount of hotel activity. My husband particularly liked the parking convenience, and we both enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hotel.

If you're looking for a remarkably overpriced, musty old hotel room, this is your spot. They seem to have a nice staff but that's it on positives. Beware the 1st floor rooms in the back which are essentially basements. Not to say a floor or two up are much better, feel free to discuss how displeased you are with your room with your neighbors through the paper-thin walls. I highly recommend you stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: Do not get stuck in the 1st floor rooms. Better yet, don't stay here.

We ( a party of 5) stayed at the Holiday Inn on Friday August 9th. We had an early reservation on the ferry to the Vineyard on Saturday and we wanted a jump on the Cape Cod traffic. It was a miserable, rainy Friday and traffic was awful. We had dinner and drinks at the hotel bar and it was a great experience. The food was good and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Mike was our bartender and he made us feel welcome. The restaurant hostess gave us suggestions for ferry parking and places to go when we got to the vineyard. Our room was large and very clean. The cot we had asked for was already in the room. We had to call quite early for extra towels (6am) and the staff brought them immediately. This is a great hotel for travelers. The Cape is always pricey in the summer but at least this place was clean and spacious with phenomenal staff.

We had a booking for one night for 2 adults and 2 kids and when we arrived at the front desk, they said the hotel was overbooked and that we had a room with a king bed instead of two queen beds. We were very disappointed because we checked twice with the central reservation to have 2 double beds in our room.
They suggested us to give us some sheets and blankets to put our sons on the floor!Unbelievable!
Finally, as our reaction to refuse that, they called the doubletree hotel in Hyannis which had rooms available and was more far comfortable and welcoming!

Room Tip: Check twice directly with the front desk for your reservation and not with the central reservation!

Just returned from a 2 night stay with family of 4. Perfect location for staying in Falmouth. The ENTIRE staff was friendly and welcoming (even to a point where our friends not-staying at the hotel were invited to join us at the pool); the room was comfortable; and the breakfast was fresh and delicious -- my daughter particularly liked the Cinnamon Bun French Toast. Agree with others - priced competitively for the area. Only one suggestion for management - the breakfast experience was a bit disorganized...recommend having 1 dedicated staff person responsible for seating and assigning waitstaff to tables.

We usually stay in B&B's, but for a last minute weekend trip to Falmouth/MV, these were all booked. We chose the Holiday Inn because we know what to expect from the chain, and that's basically what we got. This property is not really walking distance to anything. You have to drive to beach, shops, restaurants and the ferry. I've stayed in nicer Holiday Inns. This one is looking a little tired.

Check in Friday afternoon went smoothly. We had originally booked a standard double room, the only thing available. Upon arrival we were told we could have a complimentary upgrade to Room 201, which is a first floor king room. This was much appreciated.

The room was actually a handicapped accessible room, and was absolutely huge. Almost too big...kind of difficult to find your way to and from the bathroom in the dark without bumping into all the furnture! The decor is standard chain hotel, done in shades of blue and green. The room had a king size bed, desk and chair, two dressers, huge flatscreen TV, a sofa, armchairs, ottomans, dorm size fridge, microwave, coffeemaker. We used the fridge and it worked fine. There were two (!) closet areas, one very large, with plenty of hangers and two luggage racks.

The cleanliness of the room appeared to be mostly good. Housekeeping could do a better job wiping down surfaces. For example the fridge and microwave doors were covered with sticky handprints. The room had a definite odor, as if it had once been a smoking room and the smell lingered in the carpet. The ceiling had some serious water damage issues that had been replastered and painted over in places, not adequately. This might have contributed to the smell. I went to the desk after we walked into the room and were hit by the smell, and asked if there was anything else available, but the desk clerk stated they were completely sold out. The place did seem very busy. The odor wasn't intolerable and once we'd been in the room for a while we got used to it.

The bathroom was also quite large and very clean. Big granite vanity area. The tub had a hand held shower which worked just fine. The bathroom lighting was very dim, not suitable for applying makeup. Some brighter bulbs in the fixture over the vanity would solve the problem. Bathroom amenities were soap, shampoo, lotion, shower cap. These were nice quality and were in plentiful supply. Towels, while scratchy, were spotless and also plentiful.

The bed and pillows were comfortable. Sheets were clean but I wish were of a higher thread count. Kind of scratchy.

All in all we were comfortable here. The decor is just dated and tired. It's a little depressing. An upgrade to a cleaner, more modern look would go a long way to improving this property.

The only issue I had during my stay was the breakfast. The on-site restaurant, KC's Steak and Seafood, does a breakfast buffet with eggs cooked to order for I believe $9.95. So breakfast is not included, but can be charged to your room. Neither of us wanted eggs, so we just had the buffet items, which were fruit, cereal, yogurt, bagels/muffins/toast pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, potatoes, etc. Also juices and coffee. The pancakes were leathery from sitting out for so long, and the sausages were at the bottom end of the acceptable range. But the real problem was our waitress, she was one of the most surly, unpleasant servers I've ever encountered. I wish I could remember her name. She actually argued with me when I requested a clean coffee cup, because the one at my place was very dirty. Instead of just getting me another cup, I had to listen to a lecture on how cups become "stained" after years of use, but she'd get me another although she seemed very put out. Well I'm sorry, but I don't care to drink from a cup that's wearing more lipstick than I am! After that, she disappeared, wouldn't refill our coffee, snapped at me when I asked for a fork (there wasn't one on the table, I guess I should eat my pancakes with my fingers) and was generally unpleasant. Needless to say we had breakfast out the next day.
