A real fishing village with History, with a Capital H -- so many interesting corners to scout out.... Stand behind the fisherman who steers the town towards the Atlantic, at the Fishermen's Memorial Monument, and imagine all "They that go down to the sea in ships" directly in front of you. Enjoy a meal at one of the good restos right on Main Street, such as Sugar Magnolia's or The Franklin Cafe, [stay tuned for upcoming reviews!] Grab a homemade cannoli at Cafe Sicilia. Take a drive out and stroll around the art colony of Rocky Neck. And don't forget to check out the Cape Ann Community Cinema for offbeat screenings -- you get to be a real couch potato, seated on an assortment of comfy couches while partaking of a good cuppa tea, or other unusual offerings. Recently saw "Birders" there -- a wonderful movie used as a fundraiser for the local non-profit Kestrel Educational Adventures. We were delighted in the low-key ambience of the cinema as much as the off the wall conversation with the locals.
