Notice how many reviewers use the word 'quirky'? Don't go here if you insist on cleanliness, fresh paint, matching decor, or a great free breakfast. But if you like leopard print sheets, monkey end tables, cornflakes in a box, a voluble and fascinating host, and a perfect Gloucester location, by all means stay at the Inn at Babson Court.

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms. All equally quirky.

We were looking for a room and stumbled upon the Inn. They didn't have any rooms but Paul made a few calls and found us one up the hill. What we saw was very quaint and for Paul to be so nice to someone not even staying with them is a rarity. I would definitely stay there in the future just for the atmosphere!

my husband and I spent my birthday and new years eve weekend at the Inn at Babson Court...we were greeted with friendliest atmosphere of Paul and his friend. Paul is a wonderful inn keeper/owner. We spent time with him while he told us the story of the building and of the "muffin bunny", also known as Samuel.
We stayed in the Stevens (cut) suite located in the front eastern side of the building. Our room was clean and very cozy. We got to watch sunrise just across the street in the Gloucester Harbor. A magnificant sight. The room has a king size bed that was not very new but felt comfortable enough for a good nites sleep. There is a spiral stair case that leads to a loft where children can sleep.
The room is set in an antique style of the 1800's with it's high post beam ceiling and murial walls and mirrors on wall against large bed...it was truly a wonderful place to stay and we have every intention of going back during the busy season in Gloucester.
I highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a nice friendly atmosphere and in walking distance to most area restaurants and attractions...
we give Babson Court Inn an excellent review...loved it immensely.

We really enjoyed this place, but it had it's quirks.

Our suite had a dramatically high ceiling with old, exposed rafters, and a loft filled with kid-sized furniture which could be accessed by a spiral staircase. The ocean view was excellent, and included a direct view if the fisherman's monument. Unlike other reviewers I was not bothered by traffic sounds.

Breakfast is in-room. We had a coffee maker and some mini-boxes if cereal, and the fridge was stocked with juice and milk. Furthermore, muffins were delivered and left outside the door in the morning. The self-serve approach wasn't what I usually expect from a b&b, but it did have it's upside, since you could stay in your room and eat when you want.

Overall, it was a great experience.

A comfortable, spacious, quirky but pleasant inn that offers a 'small B&B' experience but with ample room to spread out. Views of the harbor are available, if limited in some rooms. Location is ideal and offers a short walk to parks, restaurants, shopping and local neighborhoods. The owners are engaging and hospitable, with morning muffins and other sweet stuff delivered to the door to complement the in-room coffee service in order to start the day. A good place to stay.

My fiance and I stayed there in September of 2010. We ended up there quite by accident, only intending staying for one night, but ended up staying for three nights because it was so wonderful. The location could not be better as we were on a motorcycle, and were able to walk everywhere we needed to go for sightseeing and meals. The room was beyond our expectations, but the best thing about his place is the charming host, Paul, who kept us laughing the entire time with his wonderful stories! We travel alot, but have decided that this is where want to spend our honeymoon when we get married in September. We have already booked it, and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: The Cut Stevens Suite was beautiful!

My husband and I stayed here during St. Peter's Fiesta (June 24 - 27). This was actually our second stay. The last time was in 2009 and both times we stayed in The Samuel "Cut" Stevens Suite, which is a huge room with a spiral staircase going up to a second sleeping area. The inn is very quaint and uniquely decorated. The location is one of the great things about this inn - it is right across the street from the "man at the wheel" and Gloucester's famous "Greasy Pole" competition. Also, it is very close to the downtown area so we didn't even need to use our car to go out to dinner, to a bar, or to the festivities of the Fiesta. The room that we stayed in is at the front of the building, so there is a beautiful view of the ocean and all of the action on the Boulevard. In the room there is a small refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, and they provide dishes and silverware. Another one of the great things about this inn, is that each morning the "Muffin Bunny" leaves a basket of yummy pastries and muffins outside your door. We will definitely stay here again for the next Fiesta!!
