Stage fort park is a beautiful place right on Gloucester harbor, Complete with 2 unique beaches. One is Half moon beach, because of the shape, small but very well protected by rock formations, off to one side is a point cannons guarded the early settlement from the British. There is loads of parking , swings and slides for kids, bathrooms and snack and an ice cream place, there are fileds to run or play ball in.There is also band stand, where there are occasional summer concerts.Fire pits for family BBQ. What about the Houghs? Over a hundred years ago the sister, part of an old Gloucester family, had a plan to do a fancy development on the harbor. At the last minute they had a change of heart and deeded the entire site to the city.

Very nice park, especially early summer/fall. beautiful views, public restrooms. Nice place to start a bike ride around the gloucester area.
Very cool cyclocross races held at this park in the fall.

We were walking along the shore at the scenic harbor area when some locals suggested we head around the corner to the park. I'm SO glad we did! It's a beautiful location! We made our way around to the point, where there are a couple benches where you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous harbor view. The fall colors were beautiful. We would definitely return here when in the area.

A great playground for the kids and plenty of room to run around and explore. Also a good ice cream stand at the south end of the park.

We climbed the rock at Stage Fort Park. What an amazing place. Historic interest, amazing views and the beach. And, it's free!
