We attended a pre-wedding dinner at Short & Main, privately held in the upstairs area of the restaurant. So I didn't experience the regular dining or bar areas. We had great service, a nice space and excellent food. AC would have made it more comfortable, but it wasn't that bad without it.

The service was good, the atmosphere good too but a bit loud to my taste.

I ordered a mushroom pizza. I could have been very good if only there was any sauce! No tomato sauce, no bechamel, no nothing... pretty much just mushrooms and cheese. It was Ok but a bit disappointing for the price.

What you would expect to find in Boston. We were so happy to find this place! Interesting menu with some great combinations and tastes. The beet salad was so good we ordered another. The oysters were fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the pizza, great crust. Friendly staff. Lively atmosphere. If you want broiled haddock and fried clams keep walking! But that's ok cause it leaves more room for me!

We were excited to be trying out a fairly new place to eat in Gloucester and it turned out to be quite a learning experience. In this city of fishermen, they only had 2 entrees on the menu, squid and sausages! Oysters were only $1 apiece for the first hour they are open so two of us chowed down on those. My husband declared this was the first time he had ever gone to a restaurant and found nothing on the menu he wanted to eat but pizza, so he ordered that. It was soupy and undercooked. We ordered salads at $9 and $10 each and one each of the above entrees that were Just okay. To our amazement, when we got our bill, they charged $3 for the bread they brought to the table and $5 for a couple of handfuls of pecans in a little dish they brought with our drinks. Unfortunately these owners think they must be in New York City instead of Gloucester, Mass. Needless to say, we will not be going back.
