Duckworth's delivers a very enjoyable dining experience. The food is very good, and the wine list includes some very fine options. The prices are reasonable. What stands out, is the enthusiastic, friendly, cheerful service; the servers appear to be having a good time. Gloucester is lucky to have a dining alternative of this quality.

Had an excellent meal. Reservations difficult, so we took last one sitting at the bar. It did not detract from out experience at al. Great fun to interact with staff, Michelle an amazing hostess and bar tender. Received wonderful attention from her and Ally, a young also attentive member of the staff. You cannot go wrong here.

Seldom have I seen a menu where I would have enjoyed every dish. I had wonderful oysters on the half shell and a small sized lobster risotto. Others with me had a variety of different dishes, from vegetarian to seafood stew to duck. Each one was fantastic and prepared to perfection.

Of particular delight are the half portions where you can enjoy more than one of Duckworth's tasty and interesting menu selections during one dinner.

We'll be back soon.

We don't hand out five stars for very many restaurants, and while this establishment has a few limitations, the fantastic food and the wonderful service will make you instantly overlook the little things in life. The menu is amazingly varied and challenges you to choose between a variety of fantastic offerings. You are given the choice with most items to either receive an appetizer sized portion, or a full entree; great option as it allows you to sample more than one thing without either expanding your belt-line or dinging your wallet too much. Everything we ate was among the best we've had anywhere, and we're total foodies!!! Appetizer sized portions were way more than generous and a fantastic bargain. Lobster risotto was served in a copper pan that retained the heat and kept the dish at the optimum temperature until you were done....brilliant, as so many places make a nice risotto that loses its texture as it cools before you can finish it; not here, and the dish itself was brimming with hefty chunks of lobster!! Service was second to none. Colleen was friendly, attentive and willing to have the chef alter his fare enough to satisfy my wife's dietary restrictions. We had a 7:00 PM reservation, but weren't seated until about 7:45; they couldn't have been more gracious about the delay and even comped us a round of drinks....the wait was worth it!!!! This place is small, and it is crowded; but the clientele was considerate and the noise level wasn't at all obtrusive. Reservations are an absolute must, and weekends are really tough. If you're going to be in Gloucester, make your reservations for Duckworth's when you book your hotel.....trust us, you won't regret it. Parking is limited, but there is a dirt lot that is accessible alongside of the restaurant (not lit). Prices are really a bargain for the quality you get. Wine selection is limited but adequate; a nice touch here is wine by the glass, and again you can choose the amount poured in order to allow a different wine with each course. Some people have written reviews about the service being a tad slow; the place was packed when we were there, and we couldn't have had better service!! Building is quaint and a bit off the beaten track, but your GPS should have no trouble in finding it. Best place in town, can't wait to go back.

We went to Duckworth Bistro several time over the year and were always very satisfied. Last week we returned and we were a disappointed. I had the seafood stew and it was overloaded with clams and little fish. There was almost no lobster. It came with soaked sweet potatoes that do not pair very well with the sauce.
The ingredients in my wife’s salad were good but there was too much dressing and the vinaigrette was very acidic due to an excess of vinegar.
I just hope that this was a one-time occurrence.
