Every window offers a stellar view of the water. In fact, the balcony is actually over the water. This is the best location Glouscester could ever offer. It's a large, weirdly laid-out apartment, former office space, with some amenities -- sunny and comfortable. If you like five-star hotels, this isn't the place for you, but it was just right for us. We cooked almost every day during the week we stayed, took the train to Salem to mess around there, went on an absolutely fantastic whale watch, shopped in galleries and just plain loved the place. Mark, who rents the place, is very nice and open to suggestion. We were greeted with beers, just-baked banana-cranberry-walnut bread, and a hug. You can't beat the hospitality. I'm already wanting to go back. You'll love it. One of the best places we've ever stayed in decades of bumming around the coast.
This was an amazing find. A charming, rustic little apartment right on the harbor. Very clean with all the basic amenities. We found Gloucester to be a rare and disappearing gem - a commercial fishing village full of wonderful and interesting people. The owner was very nice and helpful and gave many suggestions where to eat and see the sights. I would love to spend more time in this peaceful place just watching the boats come in and out right outside the window. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and friendly experience.
