“It's "all" right !”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

We love the Market, particularly when we arrive by boat. It feels like a place you would find on a Grenoble France back road. We have been a half of dozen times the past 2 years and have never been disappointed. They serve a small Chef's Menu with local ingredients when possible. The vibe and the food is complemented by a better than average wine list and a really great staff. Tonight, 2 of us had scallops and 2 fried chicken (wow!). What makes the food great is clean, simple but properly complemented dishes. Being on Lobster Cove adds to the experience as well. Too many places over prepare a dish, too many others don't understand how to complement the star of the plate with clean and interesting flavors. What takes this from a 4 to a 5 rating is the staff.

“Needs help badly!”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

Each summer there is a group (could be the same, could be different) who open a restaurant in this location (across the cove from our house); each summer we try it and are always disappointed. I am so anxious for someone good to take this over. We would definitely frequent this place often if the food were exceptional or at least the wait staff was efficient. It is such a diamond in the rough...the location is incredible, sitting right on Lobster Cove, with boats, canoes, and kayaks all around. Inefficient, non productive service (there was no acknowledgement of coming in or help finding seats, and the food was unremarkable. With all the captive eaters in Annisquam and surrounds this could be a gold mine for the right owner.

“Delightful Riverside Eatery”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

A delightful experience at The Market where the quality and flavor of the food is outstanding. This very small restaurant only has one row of tables along an outside wall, and the option to eat on the deck outside. Tables are tight, with wooden chairs that are more comfortable than they first appear. More importantly, the excellently prepared dishes and fine service were exceedingly pleasing. The menu is small - three main courses, two of which were gluten free. All three were sampled by our table of five and everyone thought theirs was delicious. Ingredients were local and fresh. A nice variety of wine is available by the glass. This is a place for a special evening in a casual, relaxed, charming setting.

“Exquisite alternative to average Cape Ann fare”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

It's like Chez Panisse down east. Very careful attention to the freshest local ingredients - every bite was perfect. The fish and shellfish stew was exceptional. The stock itself must have taken hours to make that perfect.

Very careful wine list. Attentive service

Yes, it is a limited menu - quite intentionally. But cooking of this calibre is rare.

The Market is a real find.
