“We didn't even get to stay”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2007

We never even got to stay. We called at 12:30 p.m. to get directions and were told before getting them that our room was not ready and we should go to lunch first. Than we were given directions. Upon arrival we were left standing in the lobby with no one at the desk, though the receptionist was is the next room apparently trying to book a function with a few people. We finally went to this room and asked if there was anyone available to book us in. the women there only asked our name and without looking at us or apologizing for making us wait went to the phone and called someone who she apparently knew was in our reserved room and smiling and giggling said that she figured that person was there. Than hung up and coldly informed us we had to wait as our room was not ready. It was past check in time. I than said we would prefer to cancel our reservation if our room was not ready. She than rudely informed me that it would only be five or ten minutes. I said I still preferred to cancel the reservation and we asked if we could have written confirmation of the cancellation and she said no.So we left. Not going back. We're concerned based on the receptionist attitude that she may not cancel the reservation and try to charge us for the room anyway. We love gloucester but forget about this place.

The staff at the Marina Resort were very friendly and accommodating. They offer a free sunset river cruise, which is very informative and are located next to Yankee Fleet Whale Watching. The rooms are neat, very clean and well maintained.
The indoor pool is fantastic and open late.

I visited here with my 5 year old grand-daughter and felt very comfortable. Great location, close to the beaches and parks.
Hope to return during the Christmas Holidays.

My Niece and I just stayed there on October 8th, 2004. We arrived at 1:30 AM and the gentleman who checked us in was very nice and helpful, our room was great and there was a porchconnected to our room with a front seat view of the harbor and ships docked there.
I would definately stay there again!!

From the start, it was bad. We arrived after a 6 hour drive only to be told they didn't have a room available. I had made the reservation months earlier and had called a few days before to confirm and was told everything was fine. To the front desk clerk's credit, she did find us the room we wanted.
The room was grungy, only topically clean. The bathroom reminded me of something from a USSR prison or 70's gas station. The shower/tub didn't drain and the flush ran and ran at times. The deck view was terrible and the stink at low tide awful. So much for a water view!
We almost asked for a refund, but since we were had a two day show, we were tired, and the price was less than $100 per night, we decided to tough it out and stay. Looking back, I certainly would not stay again. And next time, I will ask to SEE the room BEFORE checking in.
I do want to mention again the lady at the front desk was very helpful, but she probably sensed I was about to turn into a homicidal maniac if we didn't get a room ASAP.
Although a it's called a resort, don't be fooled as we were. I will add the restaurant at the marina, The Gull, was wonderful. The best sirlion I've had in years, no lie.

Over the years, this inn has deteriorated significantly and I would stay away from this depressing place at all costs. Our last stay in 2003 was awful. The first room we were given was so raunchy (stained carpet and run-down interior furnishings) that we requested to move to a different, more expensive room. However, even this room was run-down and unappealing in every way. Paint was actually peeling from the ceiling. Also, while we were checking in, there was an abusive drunk yelling at the receptionist about his lousy room. The police were called and he was told to leave the premises. Under police supervision, the drunk man was permitted to get into the driver's seat (despite his companion's protestations) and drive the vehicle from the premises.

Stayed in a "deluxe room" 18 Jun 04. The walls needed major repair cracked and peeling - green outdoor deck-type carpeting - old used furniture type furniture - no soundproofing at all - heard evey cough and flush from neighboring rooms - patio looked out on the parking lot - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
