Description: We at Route 7 Grill are proud to be providing fresh, local food to our Berkshire neighbors and friends. All of our meats are naturally raised from local farms or small family farms. We hope that our close relationship with these farmers have some positive effect in preserving local farming traditions. Everything we serve, including stocks, soups, dressings & desserts are made here from scratch. Our philosophy is inspired by Berkshire Grown, as well as the farm-to-table movement. The restaurant, nestled in the Housatonic river valley of the Southern Berkshires offers a full service dining room and full bar. We're located on historic Route 7 south of Great Barrington in the shadow of June Mountain We also offer a second dining room concept - including Raw Bar, Charcuterie & Tasting menus. We went there for dinner. We thought the food was excellent but very over priced. I ordered the burger; the meat was juicy and fresh with no filler. The fries were also handcut.

On a cold winter evening we made reservations for our party of 7 (somewhat last minute) to dine at the Route 7 Grill. I had heard good things about the restaurant so was excited to try. The decor is simple yet warm and lots of wood! There is a fireplace in the middle of the dining area that was crackling and the walls are covered with old barn wood. For an appetizer we ordered the shrimp skewer which had a zesty sauce and wings - delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes for dinner, the Route 7 Grill burger which is very, very good and the french fries are so fresh with a sprinkling of sea salt they almost melt in your mouth. My daughter ordered the pulled chicken BBQ sandwich and really enjoyed it and my mom and sister ordered a steak which was done to perfection and had wonderful sides of beets, mashed potatoes, and Brussel sprouts. Loved it all! Even bought t-shirts to remember our visit.

Meat is the main event at Route 7 Grill -- locally sourced, perfectly prepared, succulent and delicious meat. We've always loved the brisket, the baby back ribs, the traditional barbecue standards, but of late the offerings have varied to include lamb and charcuterie not to be sneezed at. We're particularly fond of the changing items on offer as charcuterie boards -- single items, three-item boards, or five-item boards including from divine brandade, duckbreast prosciutto, bratwurst, and smoked lamb. Sides are seasonally varied, but the ever-present white- and sweet-potato fries are superb. One of my lunch faves is the Cobb salad with house-smoked bacon and chicken. Hard to resist in summer or winter.

Route 7 Grill has been the favorite of rib lovers in the region for many years. They were the best. The good news, however, is that the new chef is a master and the menu is excellent and wholesome, with all organic and local ingredients and creative but not cutesy preparation. We still love it and will keep coming back.
