Rushing to get to the performance I had been rehearsing for all week (at the Berkshire Choral Festival in Sheffield), I stepped out of the Inn, threw some things into the trunk of my rented car, slammed the trunk closed, and immediately realized that I had locked the car keys inside. "Oh #%!!!," I screamed and within seconds a very calm Innkeeper appeared at my side. Deus ex machina.
To make a short story even shorter, André handed me the keys to his own car, told me to enjoy the concert, and assured me that all would be taken care of. When I returned to the Inn later that night, my car keys were waiting for me in my room. I never learned exactly how he did it, but evidently he found someone to help (on a Saturday night!). And to top it off he refused to allow me to pay for it.
It was one of the kindest experiences of my life, and I will always be grateful.More
