“Beautiful grounds, spacious rooms”

Beautiful old house surrounded by well-tended lawns and grand old trees. We stayed in room 12, which is very roomy and has a second exit onto a relaxing back porch equipped with a sofa swing and a few other chairs and tables. Our 2-year-old loved the house dog and spent a lot of time running around the grass chasing chipmunks and squirrels, and listening for the frogs in the creek that ran by right outside.

In town to visit family, we couldn't have chosen a lovelier place to rest than the Windflower. I'll always opt for the personal touch of a B&B over a cold hotel any day and Windflower did not disappoint. Innkeeper, Claudia, was immediately responsive and warm to my email inquiry earlier in the season. Son Michael, greeted us, helped with the overloaded car and settled us into a first floor room with fireplace, french doors to both a covered and uncovered patio, walk in closet and spotless private bath.
The smell of hot cookies emanated from the kitchen and the family didn't seem to mind our penchant for traipsing in and out of the kitchen to the fridge where my partner had to keep his milk cool for late night desserts.
Breakfast was just a tad earlier for those of us who like to sleep in and, by the way, I slept 10 hours the first night so the road noise must have abated. Not to worry about that. Cottage cheese pancakes? Yum! Fresh fruit, cold cereals, muffins and plenty of coffee - could one ask for more?

We just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Windflower. We very much liked the location, in that it was quite close to downtown Great Barrington, with its restaurants and other attractions, but in the country across from a golf course. We found the location to be suitably quiet, but also quite convenient to getting to the major towns of the Berkshires. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were of high quality. We are bikers, and the innkeepers were very accomodating in that we could keep our bikes in their secure garage. The biking is fantastic in the surrounding area. The breakfast was very good and there was flexibility as to the time it was served. Claudia and John, the innkeepers, were very hospitable and knowledgable as to restaurants and the local attractions. All in all, we would rate this B&B highly and recommend it to others that are looking for a good place to stay in the Great Barrington vicinity.

We stayed at the Windflower for several nights in May, and the experience was good, but not great.

The good -- spacious comfortable rooms; clean; nice proprieters; nice porch; well priced
The bad -- house is about 20 ft off a major road with trucks and cars going by constantly; car noise 24/7 especially with windows open in summer; cheap bedding

Overall it's a good deal for the money -- we paid $165/night for our room. If the car noise isn't an issue, I would recommend this place. Personally, I need to feel like I am away from traffic and polution when I go to the Berkshires, so next time I will find different lodging.

While spending several weeks working int he area I needed a somewhat long term base of operations. Windflower proved to be perfect. Accommodations are as comfortable as any hotel I could find and the added benefit of social interaction, and local information went a long way to helping me settle and really enjoy the area. A short drive to Great Barrington and Salisbury CT are not a reason to look elsewhere, in fact the seclusion, lovely grounds, and country setting are a great plus. I am planning to return with my family later in the summer.

We spent two lovely evenings and could not have asked for a more pleasant time. The Innkeepers kept a fire going for us and we had tea and homemade cookies in the afternoon. Breakfast was homemade, fresh and filling. Rooms were nice and clean
well appointed. We would return again.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We arrived late and the hosts waited for us to arrive. The breakfast was great, the last fresh blueberries of the season. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was charming, an old cast iron tub with a great shower. The hosts were very friendly. The grounds of this inn are beautiful. I would recommend it to friends and would go back there again.
