“When we visit the Berkshires again, we would return to the Windflower Inn in a heartbeat”
Reviewed 14 July 2010

We just returned from a lovely visit to the Berkshires. The Windflower Inn was awesome and very conveniently located in Great Barrington. Our well appointed room and private bathroom was very spacious and immaculate .Breakfast was delicious with gorgeous fresh fruit: blueberries, raspberries, and a variety of melons This was followed by a variety of cold cereals and a hot breakfast of french toast and bacon with real maple syrup one day and light cottage cheese pancakes the next day and plenty of fresh brewed coffee. We were able to store our bikes in their garage and Claudia, one of the innkeepers, was particularly helpful in assisting us in planning our bike ride and volunteered to photocopy the map of the bike route. The large porches and grounds are lovely and the inviting outdoor pool surrounded by beautiful wildflowers was very relaxing. A public golf course is directly across the street from the Inn.

I just returned from a pleasant stay at the Windflower Inn. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts included fresh fruit, plus a hot entree (e.g., eggs, french toast, pancakes, plus bacon) and good coffee. It has the usual relaxing atmosphere of a B&B with a great addition--an in-ground swimming pool, which was a vacation saver on the 90+ degree days we were there. Close to Great Barrington, which is a lovely town with nice restaurants (definitely recommend Soco for ice cream).

The location is peaceful and the yard is lovely but the inn itself is in need of updating. We were greeted by the innkeeper upon arrival and shown only to our room. It wasn't until we were checking out that we explored the grounds or common rooms which could have been our fault but most inns give you an overview of the guest areas upon check in. Our room was adequate but stains on the carpet and the room appeared "tired". The breakfast was adequate but lacked anything special. For the rate of the room we felt the amenities were minimal. All in all the inn did not meet our expectations.

We stayed here with our three children and their families. The spacious living rooms, the screened in porch and the swimming pool gave everyone space to be comfortable. The innkeepers served great breakfasts.

Beautiful old house surrounded by well-tended lawns and grand old trees. We stayed in room 12, which is very roomy and has a second exit onto a relaxing back porch equipped with a sofa swing and a few other chairs and tables. Our 2-year-old loved the house dog and spent a lot of time running around the grass chasing chipmunks and squirrels, and listening for the frogs in the creek that ran by right outside.

In town to visit family, we couldn't have chosen a lovelier place to rest than the Windflower. I'll always opt for the personal touch of a B&B over a cold hotel any day and Windflower did not disappoint. Innkeeper, Claudia, was immediately responsive and warm to my email inquiry earlier in the season. Son Michael, greeted us, helped with the overloaded car and settled us into a first floor room with fireplace, french doors to both a covered and uncovered patio, walk in closet and spotless private bath.
The smell of hot cookies emanated from the kitchen and the family didn't seem to mind our penchant for traipsing in and out of the kitchen to the fridge where my partner had to keep his milk cool for late night desserts.
Breakfast was just a tad earlier for those of us who like to sleep in and, by the way, I slept 10 hours the first night so the road noise must have abated. Not to worry about that. Cottage cheese pancakes? Yum! Fresh fruit, cold cereals, muffins and plenty of coffee - could one ask for more?

We just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Windflower. We very much liked the location, in that it was quite close to downtown Great Barrington, with its restaurants and other attractions, but in the country across from a golf course. We found the location to be suitably quiet, but also quite convenient to getting to the major towns of the Berkshires. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were of high quality. We are bikers, and the innkeepers were very accomodating in that we could keep our bikes in their secure garage. The biking is fantastic in the surrounding area. The breakfast was very good and there was flexibility as to the time it was served. Claudia and John, the innkeepers, were very hospitable and knowledgable as to restaurants and the local attractions. All in all, we would rate this B&B highly and recommend it to others that are looking for a good place to stay in the Great Barrington vicinity.
