“The bad attitude is not worthy of the cheese”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

We have been to Rubiner's two times, treated poorly by the owner the first time and returned to see if it was just an off day. Nope, we were treated just as indifferently as the first time. I can't imagine that any customers, even the ones from NYC, consider the disinterested service and affected attitude appropriate for the region. There are many other shops to buy cheese and gourmet products, with more attentive and kind service. Shame on you, Rubiners --you give Great Barrington a bad name (and we like expensive cheese).

“Not only rude, but uncaring”
Reviewed 15 June 2013

I am cheating a bit because I NEVER go in this place after being treated rudely the first time. There are several other great places to buy cheese in Great Barrington - with good service and better products - Domaney's and Guido's, to name two.
But Rubiner's also really expressed how they felt about their local customers at the recent Construct Gala - 95% of local restaurants and shops contributed lovely tables with delicious samples for this worthy local charity - Rubiner's did not show (after promising to) and did not even call to cancel. How they get by on overcharging the occasional visitor is beyond belief.

“Shop and Cafe”
Reviewed 13 March 2013

While the delicacies for sale are a little pricey, they are also excellent. Behind the store is "Ruby's," a fabulous cafe with a raw bar and perfect coffee. Intimate and warm.
