My husband and I were touring the New England states during the changing of the leaves. I booked this B&B and was not disappointed. Lovely home turned into a B&B. Donna is your host and she is a lovely person. Breakfast was delicious. There is a big wrap-around porch to enjoy, but there was some loud truck traffic. We were given tips on restaurants and the sights to see in the northern Massachusetts area. Greenfield is a quaint New England town, small, but what you need. Get out and drive the back roads of the Mohawk Trail. Don't miss a day in Deerfield. It is very similar to stepping back in time like in Williamsburg, VA. I wish we had allowed more time to see all the open colonial homes. A morning was not enough time.

Room Tip: We were in a queen room. There is a king room that would have provided more living space. All room...

House of the Hill was like staying at a good friend's house. The location is beautiful. I was visiting my daughter at Northfield Mount Herman School and it is a short scenic easy drive back and forth. Donna looks after every details, the rooms are charming and comfi, bathrooms are clean and attractive, and breakfast was delicious. Best of all Donna creates a wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere so all the guest are in a good mood! Chatting around the breakfast table was a great way to start the day.

I can't wait to go back and bring the family next time.

It is always hard to find a Bed and Breakfast where you feel right at home and comfortable . Donna and Allain have managed to do this and they do it extremely well . They have managed to make guests feel at home and not like you are just passing through .The bedroom was really nice and the bed so comfortable . The bathroom was large enough and not tiny like so many Bed and Breakfasts that we have stayed in . In the mornings Donna served us with a plentiful breakfast which included a central bowl of fruit on the table as well as fresh muffins . At the end of breakfast Donna came to chat with all of the guests . In the evening Donna gave us tips on where to eat in Greenfield and her tips were well received by us . We found that "Applebees" gave us the best value for money .

We did not see much of Allain because he was out working , but we did have a long chat on the Saturday morning when he was at home .

In a nutshell you will not go wrong by selecting "House On the hill" Bed and Breakfast . You will be comfortable , relaxed and you will find that Donna is a people person who loves what she is doing and it really shows . Stay here and you will not be disappointed , really won won't .

Room Tip: We did peek at the other rooms and they all looked comfortable to us . We would have been happy in a...

This was our 3rd stay at what has become my favorite place. Not only is the house beautiful, but Donna & Alain make you feel like you are totally at home. From the delicious breakfasts to the recommendations of places to visit and sites to see, you are in good hands. Spending time with Donna is like chatting with a sister or best friend. And you cannot beat Massachusetts in the fall. If you are looking for a relaxing break, this is the place to be. Apple picking, scenic trails, riverboat ride.... so much to do. We will be back next year and for many years after.

Room Tip: Each room is perfect. You cannot go wrong. If traveling in the fall, book early! Come with high expe...

My mother has come up and stayed here for the past two years, and everything has been perfect. Donna is warm and hospitable, and I hear rave reviews about the breakfasts. If I could give six stars as a rating I would do so!

I was just a bit anxious because I booked this stay for us and three other couples from reviews without doing a personal inspection. But the whole exhperience surpassed our expectations. Donna is a warm and gracious hostess. All meals were eaten at restaurants that she recommended and they were all excellent with high quality and many local foods. Even the best mattresses we have ever experienced at a B&B were made locally. The breakfasts were yummy and she is willing to make almost anything you might want. We enjoyed picking and eating big sweet raspberries in the backyard. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable as well as carefully decorated. The porch is relaxing with great views and the living room provided a great area for 8 of us to get together for word games in the evening. If you are really lucky, Donna will introduce you to Charlie and Julie!

Room Tip: The library room on the first floor would be good if stairs are a problem, but the three rooms upsta...

Stayed three nights in September with three other couples for our annual get-together which we have been doing for many years. This B&B was one of the best we have stayed at in many years. Our hostess, Donna, has been running this B&B with her husband for the last 14 years and it shows. Her husband has done an outstanding job of updating a house that is over 100 years old with modern plumbing in each room and subdued tasteful decor (meaning not a lot of stuff I would call fluff and dust collectors). The mattresses were made locally and very comfortable. Donna stressed buying local and made recommendations for great restaurants that also used local produce. Breakfasts were varied and very good with fresh raspberries, peaches and strawberries. We felt like we have known Donna for a long time even though we just met. Highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Room Tip: Go for one of the upstairs rooms especially the front bedroom (2A) which is light, bright and airy...
