“Ice cream and yummy fried food”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

If you have a craving for ice cream or fried food/seafood, then Johnson's is the place to go. Beware that the ice cream servings are huge!!!!! Great very casual atmosphere. It is the sort of place where you order at the counter, find a seat, and enjoy. Not a place to count calories!

“Just as good in the winter”
Reviewed 23 December 2012

Johnson's is best known for their many flavors of homemade ice cream in the summer. (In that regard they blow Kimball's in Westford out of the water on value.) But in winter, this longstanding Groton institution is the only place in this scenic New England town to get a real breakfast. They are pros. Remember getting breakfast at all those diners years ago? Johnson's does too, and that's what they serve up. They had the Panera model before Panera was around, i.e., walk in, order your food, get your drink, sit down, relax. They'll bring your breakfast (or lunch) over when it's ready. Quick. Easy. Tipping is optional (but appreciated). We cleared our own plates because it felt like home (but you don't have to.) Are there other spots in this beautiful town to get breakfast? Sure but they're either rubber eggs at Dunkin or amateur hour at the much younger spot in the center. Be smart, go with the pros.

“the best fried clams and onion rings around!”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

Johnsons has been serving great , simple meals and ice cream in Groton for over 50 years. It is a terrific local place where the whole family can find something good to eat at a reasonable price.

“Johnson's”
Reviewed 24 July 2012

Was better when Norm Johnson ran the place, many years ago, but still a good place for a fix of fried food and ice cream.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 17 June 2012 via mobile

Made a return trip after a few years of not eating here and was disappointed. Food quality has gone way down, stick to just ice cream if you visit.
