“birthday dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Had a chance to go for a birthday celebration. Enjoyed nearly everything particularly the steak frites with watercress salad, the pate, octopus, scallop ceviche app and onion soup. Others we were less enthusiastic about included lamb Mergez?, the mussel dish was not good. Neither the sauce or the quality of the mussels (PEI mussels do not compare to the Stony Island mussels raised in Orleans, I think. Why more restaurants can't figure out how to get these on their menus is beyond me.) A couple of entrees seemed overly stylized but were enjoyed nonetheless. Drink menu is elaborate and expensive. Food is expensive but largely worth it. Wine list was fairly extensive with representation of most major wine regions in France. Service was good. We must have had 6 different people bring us something or clear from the table. All in all a positive experience with some sticker shock when the bill arrived. Cocktails were $12 -15, apps $10-15, entrees that we had were all around $30 apiece.

“Amazing French bakery. Limited dinner menu. ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

We've been here a couple of times for breakfast. All the pastries and breads are authentic. The coffees equally so. We have tried to go for dinner without reservations unsuccessfully so this time we planned ahead and made reservations two weeks ahead. Even though the menu is limited with a few specials there's something in all food groups. Portions were good but you'll need to order side dishes. We tried the grilled octopus, veal pasta dish, scallops and spring risotto. Everything was quality and well prepared, very good. The spring risotto should have had some shrimp for its $24 price tag. The bread at the beginning of the meal was wonderful. We did not have dessert/coffee. The bill was $150 for 4 with 4 main courses, 1 beer and 1 glass of wine. The wine was served in a regular water glass. The restaurant was packed and busy. Our server was knowledgeable but was remiss during our meal and we waited to be asked if we wanted dessert a little longer than necessary. We sat outdoors with outdoor heaters for comfort. Most people were inside. Not sure we'd go again for dinner. Definitely will return for breakfast!!

Located near the Hyannis Airport is this great restaurant. Service was prompt and the staff was extremely knowledgable about t all ingredients being used that day. At our table we had the monkfish with lobster that was amazing. Adinne special that night was a halibut with a curry dusting that was equally as good. We were so full that we had to come back the next day to get one of there rasberriy pastries that was also excellant. A GREAT MEAL with a better finsh.

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

Pain D'Avignon in Hyannis, Ma. is a perfect french boulangerie/patisserie and restaurant. Can't get to Paris? No problem. Stop in here for early morning coffee and croissants, loaves of marvelous bread, or lunch featuring inventive sandwiches and salads, or after five for a white tableclothed candlelt dinner and drinks from the charming red bar. A bit hard to find the first time, tucked in behind the airport it's worth discovering. In the know residents of Nantucket Island stop here coming and going to the island before the ferry or before the drive to Boston.

“Recommend!”

Made several trips here on a recent visit to the cape. Had both breakfast and lunch, as well as a sampling of pastries. Everything was excellent. Ham and cheese croissants are as good as they get. Also had a designer slice of pizza with artichokes, cartelized onion, olives and more that was really special. Also amazing was the Bistro burger. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their various meals on several repeat visits.
