“A Summer Treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2012

My spouse and I had a wonderful time at the newly renovated DoubleTree. We were concerned that its proximity to the Municipal Airport would make for sleepless nights (we sleep with a window open) but we were pleasantly surprised. The flight traffic was limited and not disruptive. We asked that housekeeping clean our room with fragrance free cleansers and they did. The room was cleaned promptly in the morning. The bed was somewhat lumpy (we recently stayed in the Washington Hilton in DC and that bed was more comfortable.) The common spaces in the hotel are newly renovated and have the look of a trendy NY lounge. The outdoor space features a fire pit that is perfect for evening lounging. What made this hotel exceptional is the staff - they were thoughtful and provided great "local" places to hang out for meals or drinks. The Concierge, Marcene, is warm, welcoming and exceptionally skilled at meeting the needs of her guests. She made my birthday dinner very special by making reservations at a great restaurant with excellent cuisine and cocktails. Lucy, Rene, and Swainson at the front desk -- all provided useful information too. The hotel is located in great proximity to day trips to P-town and the Cape Cod National seashore. Also you can just as easily get to Falmouth- Woods Hole. Hyannis has lots of dinner options which is essential on a longer trip. We will definitely return here when we are in the area. The nightly rate is a bit pricey but we will keep an eye out for specials. It would be great if they included a cocktail coupon (for their lounge) or free continental breakfast at their restaurant.

Me and my wife stayed here for the labor day weekend....the staff was nice...rooms clean and overall the hotel was very nice.......our bathroom did not have hot water.....it was lukewarm at the best and suddenly turned to freezing cold......this was a very frustrating experience for us.....having booked 2 nights for more than 500 dollars we expected everything to be perfect.....it would have been if not for the hot water issue......when we called the desk about the problem, they mentioned that there was an issue with the water system on our part of the floor and that they did not have any other rooms available.......they refunded one night for us......but that did not really compensate for the frustration we went through.....I would recommend this hotel only if you confirm about the hot water before booking......

Room Tip: Confirm for hot water before you book

Stayed at the Doubletree Hyannis for one night. The hotel has recently changed management (from a Radisson to the Hilton Doubletree) and apparently there was a good deal of renovation. My room did not necessarily reflect high-end renovations. And for the price --over $200 -- the renovations should be better. The room was very small and the bed quite uncomfortable (the mattress felt like it was quite old). And, there was a huge oval (at least one foot wide) soaking wet spot in the carpet in the middle of the room. In the evening, I asked about it at the front desk and someone came to look but could not explain it. The person thought that there had been a stain on the carpet which was cleaned with a wet cleaning product. But the carpet was still soaking wet in the morning!
The bathroom fixtures seem new and the bathroom clean. But the hotel seems like it still needs some upgrades from its earlier life as a Radisson.
The staff were all friendly and did try to be helpful. But at the price, and a need for continued sprucing up, I would not stay again.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room that has always been non-smoking

We stayed there the week of Aug 20th with several couples for 2 nites. None of us had hot water for the two nites. Mgmt said they fixed it the first day we were out sightseeing only to come back to ice cold showers. Mgmt did nothing except suggest we go shower at the lockers-all rooms were booked. They did not even offer a meal or a drink for this horrible time of not being able to take a shower. The place is far from town and in town there is wonderful hotels offered. The lack of concern by mgmt is shocking coming from Hilton. I will do all i can to spread the word do not stay here and i will think twice about Hilton in general for this horrible service..

Room Tip: just dont stay there

Stayed here overnight on a weekend. The area is great. One a main road so driving places are easy and straightforward. It's right across from the cape cod airport so u can see the planes take off. But don't worry you can't hear them from inside the rooms!
There's an indoor pool and outdoor pool, neither of which i went in. They even give you two delicious cookies when you check in!
The setup of the place is kinda weird however. The restaurant is out of the way and the parking lot is awkward to figure out at first. I went to check out the restaurant but it was completely dead inside and the menu didn't look too enticing so decided not to. But the harbor strip is down the street which has tons of places to eat and check out! Literally a 2 min drive from the hotel.

I would love to come back to this hotel again. My only complaint would be the cost which was around 260 before taxes. But I was willing to pay since I didn't want to stay at a rundown motel. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

I thought the staff were helpful and friendly. Outdoor pool was very pleasant on the warm August days and the indoor pool excellent for a three star hotel. On a main road so you will need a car. Room was very good size and well decorated. The bar is in a very strange location. It is well away from the outdoor patio area, tucked away inside the restaurant. You could easily stay here and not know it was there. We liked the outdoor fire pit, which is a great idea. They just need to get the bar waitress to visit the patio more as most people there were just drinking from vending machine bought cans. If you wanted a drink you had to walk through the corridors into the restaurant and then walk all the way through the hotel back to the patio. Odd architect! Generally hotel was modern, clean and friendly. A good quality 3* hotel.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for writing. We’ll be sure to pass on your nice comments to our staff. Glad to hear that you enjoyed our new outdoor pool, renovated indoor pool and courtyard firepit. You’re right….we do need to do a better job communicating to our guests about our three food and beverage outlets (Ivy, Vyne and Vesta) and we are working on improved signage and better communication. Thanks again for taking the time to share your comments.

This is a work in progress that is almost done. I was at this location last year when it was a worn down, tired Radisson. The improvements are extensive (walls, furnishings, bathrooms, beds, lobby). When you stay on the Cape (or most other long-time Northeast beach towns), you have to adjust your expectations in terms of motels/hotels. This hotel should soon give the Cape Codder a run for your mid Cape money. My primary complaint during this stay was the lack of hot water for the shower/whirlpool bath. After about 15 minutes, the water became hot for about a minute and then ran back to downright cold. A notice was slipped under the door on the second of my four nights, indicating that maintenance on the water system was under way.

Room Tip: This facility has two wings. I've stayed in both. The one by the pool is more accessible by elev...

Thank you very much for posting on TripAdvisor. As you noted, the property has undergone extensive renovations and reopened as a DoubleTree by Hilton in July 2012. We do wish to sincerely apologize for the hot water problems that you experienced. We hope to see you again and are confident that it will be a “prime time” visit!
