I thought this was a beautiful beach, with ample parking. There were many families, and it was crowded, but I got there early, and was only staying a short time. The beach is very clean, and the water very cold! It was fun people watching, and a wonderful few hours. A must on your beach list! Make a stop at the Clam Shack in Ipswich and you have a perfect little day!

Crane Beach is great any time of year. There are wonderful walks in the dunes; it's nice beach. I've had picnics on the beach in the middle of winter, building fires with driftwood. And I've been there for hikes in the summer and fall. It is definitely worth a trip.

We visited the beach and Crane castle for fall get-a-way in 2012. It was very clean and uncrouded the day we were there. You can walk up and down the shore for at least a mile .At the North end is a fun rocky area near the crane castle with nice views of the inlet village and to the south is a large expance of beach and marsh reserve where we spotted many types of birds and a group of harbor seals spashing in the surf.
We only toured the grounds near the castle but it is a site to behold with the gardens and grotto area where the crane family once called their summer home.
There is a day fee to enter but pay it for the day and use the time to experiance all that this area has to offer.
If you have the time ,stop in to one of the nice fishing villages along the shoreline. I recomend Newbarrytown or Gloaster to see the true New England fishing haritage.

The Beach is clean and beautiful. There is a lovely board walk that goes over the sand dunes and leads down to the beach.

This beach is the best on Boston's North Shore. Historic Ipswich is also a plus for visitors from outside the region.
