“Fantastic views and challenging trails”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

This is a great way to see the "valley" from the mountain top drive. We started in the north from between Williamstown and North Adams and headed south on Notch Rd. to access the start of the scenic drive. There are many trails along the way but not so many "pull off's" to take pictures. At the end of the scenic drive is the south entrance and home to the visitor center. It has many friendly and helpful staff. We are not in the best of physical shape, so we chose a 1.8 "easy" trail to hike. It was a little more difficult than we expected but we were glad that we did it. There are trails marked easy, moderate, strenuous and aggressive. Unless you are use to hiking, these trails can be very challenging and in some cases dangerous when it has been raining.

“Amazing views, good hiking, a natural wonder”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We took the family hiking here a couple of times during our trip. The parking lots are free unless you drive right up the summit and the paths are well marked. Being on a mountain, every path we tried was a bit challenging, but the lovely waterfalls and views were well worth the effort!

“Nothing else like it in Massachusetts”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Husband and I visited a few times for birding/walking. I didn't do much hiking due to a knee injury, but still very much enjoyed the visit. The many scenic overlooks on the road to the top are definitely worth it. Even though it was misty when we drove up, it was still a really enjoyable trip. We didn't get the best views, but the mist gave the whole place an unearthly feeling, very peaceful. Excellent birding. Blackburnian Warblers are almost common! Veerys singing--I can never get enough of their haunting song. Gorgeous Black-throated Blue Warbler. And so on.

The pictures, while beautiful, cannot do this place justice. It is a must see with your own eyes kind of place.

“top of the mountain”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

It is about 8 miles to drive to the top of Mt. Greylock, so leave enough time... since the speed limit is only around 25-30 mph. It is a beautiful view. We took a picnic lunch and blanket. It was a little windy and is a little cooler, so you may need a light jacket. It was worth the drive! Both my daughters (20 & 22 yrs) enjoyed it too.
