Offers something for all liking the outdoors. The trails are varied and length and difficulty and the views from the top are great. We met up with our AT thru hikers in Williamstown and did our 2 mile part of the trail with them. Nice pretty drive to the top. The Monument at the top is beautiful!

Beautiful views of course. We got there early and drove to summit. Great trail at the summit that is good for athletic dogs. About 2 hours to make the loop. Not buggy although can be muddy after rain.

We did a 3 day 2 night loop backpacking trip up and around the mountain. The camping shelters are free, first come first serve. They are close enough together that families can backpack with small kids. We made it to the top and then back down with our heavy backpacks. Most people drove to the top. And many others rode their bicycles up there. Others did day hikes up and around. The trails are well maintained. The view from the top is spectacular. Right now (7/14), the tower is closed for repairs thru the fall, so you can't climb to the top of it for the best view.

Free to drive put parking at top is a few dollars, unless there's no one present to take cash & it's free. Lovely view & could see points in 4 states from peak. War Memorial closed for revamp until 2016.

This is a great way to see the "valley" from the mountain top drive. We started in the north from between Williamstown and North Adams and headed south on Notch Rd. to access the start of the scenic drive. There are many trails along the way but not so many "pull off's" to take pictures. At the end of the scenic drive is the south entrance and home to the visitor center. It has many friendly and helpful staff. We are not in the best of physical shape, so we chose a 1.8 "easy" trail to hike. It was a little more difficult than we expected but we were glad that we did it. There are trails marked easy, moderate, strenuous and aggressive. Unless you are use to hiking, these trails can be very challenging and in some cases dangerous when it has been raining.
