“Lunch with a view? I'll take that.”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

We had lunch here while visiting Mt. Greylock. Decent price and the burger was delicious. Take you meal outside and you feel like you are eating in the clouds. We tried the "local" ice-cream, $3.5 for a popsicle that was freezer-burnt. Beware: hikers come here to eat, too, and they STINK!!! We started our meal indoors and the smell was unbearable (hence the reason why you take your food outside!)

“ Rainy night visit leaves focus on the restaurant”
Reviewed 24 July 2014 via mobile

We were very excited to visit because of its scenic reputation. Unfortunately as we arrived a storm center hung up on the mountain peak. We missed being able to walk around and see the vistas and the sunset. And so the focus became the restaurant and its food and service. There were over 40 people for the 7 dinner service and only one waitress. She worked furiously but when everyone sat down it was an impossible task. The menu was on the website and we were looking forward to what was published.
First the chef didn't make the soup advertised. Next they ran out of bread. Then salad was not ready so we waited 15 minutes for that to arrive. The dishes were all stews and not well spiced. Bland. The Web description was of a more succulent seafood dish. It was frozen reheated Luke warm. And then it was self service coffee while waited for a dry cake with a dollop of whip cream which by the way was fresh and good. This was all fixed price at $32+ and not cheap for camp food!
It cost us $103 per couple for mediocre with wine and tip.
We sat down at 7 and got out of there after 9 in time for a terrifyingly foggy rainy ride down the mountain.
Take a ride up there on a sunny day and beat feet to Pittsfield for much better food.

“Anniversary Lunch”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We visited the summit on our 32nd wedding anniversary. We decided to eat lunch at the rustic Bascom Lodge overlooking the mountain below. Not sure what to expect at a casual mountaintop venue, we asked the young man at the counter for recommendations. We were not disappointed...the burger and pulled pork sandwiches were hefty and delicious!!

“Seasonal Dining Destination”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This lodge (which also takes a few overnight guests) is a spectacular spot to watch the sun go down over the Berkshires and enjoy a surprisingly good meal - and sometimes a little entertainment to go with it. The lodge offers simple, hearty breakfasts and lunches for the hikers and bikers who are its usual overnight guests (the accommodations are limited and bordering on spartan) but the chef lays it on for dinner. The lodge is small and the kitchen is smaller so the menu isn't long on any given day, but check the menu online and you will find interesting offerings that will make the hike or drive to the top worth your effort. NOTE: Wednesday nights usually feature a special activity - usually a speaker, but sometimes bagpipers or other performers - so call ahead for reservations to be sure you will get a seat if you are planning on dinner.
