“Innskeepers who take pride in their Inn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2013

We have been frequenting B&B's for the last 15 years and each B&B has a different "feeling" all depending on who meets you at the front door. This was our first stay at Gateways Inn and only for a night, but it make a great impressions. We were welcomed right in the front door, shown around the first floor and escorted to our cozy room on the second floor. After dropping off our bags, when we came down the steps, my husband met Eiran, one of the Innskeepers and they started a discussion on his over 200 Scotch collection (my husband also collects). When we came back from our day, there was live music with singer in the Piano Bar and, although we didn't eat there, looked like wonderful late night light selections. The buffet breakfast was excellent, and included a hot entree and always hot coffee. Michelle, Eirans wife and Innskeeper loves to cook and it reflected in her breakfast selection. Enjoyable stay and would recommend anyone looking for an Inn with style and class.

Room Tip: On the second floor end of hallway to left is farthest from Piano Bar. Spend the money for one the l...

We chose Gateways Inn for a 3 day midweek stay in January for its close location to Kennedy Park (for hiking and snowshoeing) and because it is around the corner from restaurant row on Church Street. Having stayed at other Select Registry Inns, this one is by far the best to date. We stayed in the Desdemona room on the first floor, with its comfy king bed and cozy gas fireplace. The breakfasts were amazing, and we would return just for those fresh blueberry multigrain pancakes. Michele and her staff were gracious and helpful in recommending and directing us to nearby places of interest. Our only regret is that we were unable to extend our stay to Thursday, so we weren't able to enjoy the live Piano Bar music or dinner at the inn. We must find a date to return!

We had a delightful experience at the Inn. Our room was very welcoming, with good light from multiple windows overlooking a beautiful snowy lawn and a fireplace. The soaking tub in the bathroom was a pleasure, as well as the homemade multigrain coissants straight from the oven, topped with our choice of homemade jams, fruit and a selection of cheeses, outstanding fresh granola plus an asparagus omelet for breakfast. La Terraza, the restaurant, as well as the Inn are not to be missed!

We recently stayed at the Gateways Inn, in December of 2012. We drove in from Manhattan, it's an easy drive (well, if you don't hit traffic) and the inn itself was simple to find. The property is beautiful and provides a parking lot in back. Upon entering the place we were greeted by warm, happy and welcoming proprietors who whisked us to the desk and quickly handled our room/key/setup. The innkeepers walked us to our room, adjacent to the bar (how convenient) and when we entered were welcomed by a gas fireplace (which lets out a lot of heat, and can be turned on and off with a switch) and large room with a king bed. It was decorated nicely, and was VERY clean. Awesome. Being on the main floor and next to the bar, our room was surprisingly quiet. We went out for drinks and dinner- the food at the restaurant is FANTASTIC. There is absolutely no need to make a reservation outside of the B&B. This is top-notch gourmet deliciousness. My husband, who is a meat & potatoes type of picky eater, loved it- and was still talking about the potatoes they served, the next morning. After dinner we went to the lounge and listened to the piano player and a singer, who were belting out Christmas tunes- and then our group sort of took over the place, got on the mike, and rocked out until 1am. What a fun time!! Breakfast at the inn is wonderful (and I'm not a breakfast type of person) and there was plenty to eat and drink, and variation for everyone.
Shops and town are walking distance from the inn, and there are a few places to drive to as well (which we did) and the inn keepers can help you with that and tell you where to go.
If you are searching for a warm, friendly, clean B&B with a bar, restaurant and AMAZING staff, you can stop your search now. There is no need to look further. I can guarantee you will be totally satisfied.

Room Tip: The room we stayed in was the largest and most luxurious, but it's next to the bar and on the ma...

We had a marvelous three days staying at the Gateways Inn. The innkeeper put us totally at ease and was friendly and helpful. The inn has marvelous space, with a large skylight over the central stair and a lovely sunny room in which breakfast was served. The rooms were comfy. The outstanding quality was that the innkeeper and other staff were attentive, friendly, and very helpful. I could not imagine feeling more welcomed.

We had a very pleasant stay at gateways - we enjoyed our room (especially the cheery fireplace), the lovely breakfast (including fantastic homemade granola), and the tourist tips from Michele. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

We went over the New Year's weekend with two other couples. Only the highest praise for our visit - rooms, food, ambiance, staff, innkeepers, everything. Cold outside at this time of year but only warmth of the people that work there and their home which became ours during our stay. Looking for some time to go back and stay at least twice as long.

The town of Lenox is also a great place to visit -inviting shops, good prices, quaint restaurants with good food. Lots to see and do within a short driving distance.

Room Tip: If you can afford it take the Miranda Suite.
