We are happy that we lived up to your memories of your past stay a number of years ago!
We've stayed at Birchwood Inn a total of 7 nights since July 2010. Our latest stay was at the end of July 2011. The rooms are attractive, quiet and comfortable. The beds are delicious. Ellen and David are lovely, congenial hosts. I'm not a breakfast eater but I love the breakfast quiches. The last time Ellen served a sort of quiche primavera made with fresh vegetables like zucchini and tomato and topped with baby asparagus. Fabulous. Wonderful breakfast breads too. At afternoon tea, you might be treated to delicious lemon bars or (my absolute favorite) chocolate chip cookies. It's an ideal location, just two blocks from Franklin and Church Streets, downtown Lenox. We look forward to our next visit.
Thank you for the delicious accolades! And. of course, we look forward to your next visit, too!
This Bed & Breakfast is perfect for a couples' late summer get-a-way! The breakfast, rooms, afternoon teas, and innkeepers are perfect! Loved Quinn and Piper, too! We went to Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Co., and Blantyre in the evenings and enjoyed the surroundings villages during the day.
We are delighted to get a perfect score with you for your anniversary, and we do hope to welcome you home to Birchwood Inn again soon!
Stayed for two nights -- got sick day before arriving. Even with their "no cancellation" policy, they allowed us to move back our reservations by a day...would have had to forfeit our payment if they weren't flexible. Upon arriving, house was beautiful, David and Ellen were very friendly (David's shortcut to Tanglewood saved us an hour sitting in traffic). Our reserved room wasn't available the second night since we had to changed reservations, but they moved us to an even bigger, nicer room at no cost. Breakfasts were great, loved the midnight snacks left out in the kitchen. Would definately return.
We realize that life does happen and try to accommodate last-minute reservation. This isn't always possible but happy guests make innkeepers happy! I am so glad we were able to provide a happy solution t o a last-minute problem.
We stayed here only one night but would have stayed an extra night had a room been available. We wanted another day to take advantage of the inn's relaxed charm, including tea service on the porch in the afternoon, the landsaped yard, comfortable common areas and convenient location. Downtown Lenox is just a short walk away, and one can even walk to Tanglewood if the uphill return isn't a deterrent. The inn's two friendly dogs are mellow companions throughout the day. The breakfast was very good. Our room was on the top floor with only one window, but an air conditioner kept it cool on the very warm day and the bathroom was very spacious and modern. A pleasant and convenient choice!
Thank you for taking the time to let us -- and future guests -- know how much you enjoyed Birchwood Inn. The porch awaits your next visit!
Our first time at Birchwood was in August, 2010, to attend the wedding in Lenox of some dear friends. We found Birchwood on-line, using Trip Advisor as one of the guides to making our decision where to stay. We could not have made a better choice.
Ellen is the owner and proprieter of this charming B&B, and because of her natural warm personality, and impeccable taste in all the details you experience as a guest in her home, when it comes time to check-out you really do not want to leave!
Of course, it takes a team to operate and manage a succesful establishment like Birchwood, and Ellen has surrounded herself with a warm and gracious staff, especially David, who is Ellen's right hand man, and he has a natural way of making all the guests feel right at home.
We have seen most of the rooms at Birchwood, and stayed in two different rooms. They are all lovely, and very tastefully furnished. Cleanliness is a priority with Ellen, and both the house and grounds are very carefully maintained. This B&B is also very conveniently located to Tanglewood, where we attended events while in Lenox. There is a somewhat secret route to Tanglewood from Birchwood that Ellen and David told us about, it saves waiting in all the traffic to get in to the event and afterward back to the B&B in about 5 minutes.
We are already planning our next trip to Lenox, and will definitely be staying at Birchwood because of all the qualities we described here, and, we did not even mention the breakfasts........which are to die for!
