“not the place to stay!!”
Reviewed 15 August 2007

All I can say is, don't count on your reservation being true to what you receive. We arrived at 2:30 (check in is at 2) & were given a key to our room, only to find out it had one bed with a cot, instead of the 2 queen beds we had reserved on the hotel's website. They said they were100% booked, we had to take what we got. Then they tried offering a second room - this one smaller, and no second bed. After much arguing, we were told that oh, they did have the room we reserved. By then it was too little too late, and we decided to leave there & stay at another hotel. At this point, they told us they had to to treat it as a late cancellation & charged our credit card for the night's stay, even though they did were able to give us what we had reserved. They also lied & stated they had tried to contact us to inform us of the change. We have both caller ID & an answering machine & they also had our email address. No contact was ever attempted. We demanded to speak to a manager, and one was not on duty. Finally after a phone call AND an email to the lodging director, I got a an apology & a refund issued to our credit card a week after the fact. As far as I'm concerned, the front desk staff was unhelpful, and they were unable to gaurantee the reservations they post as "available" online. HORRIBLE customer service...go to a chain & pay a little bit more.. they aren't worth the headache.

Clean and comfortable room. Very professional and friendly staff. Quick check in and easy check out. Better than average breakfast included. Didn't use the indoor pool but it looks great and well maintained. Have used the outside pool. Also well maintained and a very sunny spot. In the Lenox area, during summer months, it is a good value. We've tried cheaper chain motels in the same area only to find them looking great on the outside and poorly maintained on the inside. Not so with The Yankee Inn.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Yankee Inn in Lenox, MA. Because we had to be in the area for a medical appointment and not vacation, we did not have a very long stay. The room was extremely clean and comfortable; the wake-up call was on time, the staff were personable and efficient, and the continental breakfast was quite nice. We would definitely go back to The Yankee Inn...hopefully for a little longer stay.

I thought I was getting a bargain because they offered a 2 night midweek package for $119 which is about the cost of one night. However, this room was terrible. After the fact, I would rather have spent the full price and then some rather than what we got. We stayed
at one of the wings of the hotel. Rumor has it that the rooms in the main building are better. My in-laws have other relatives who stay here all the time. However after our experience, I am not sure that we could be convinced to try one of their more expensive rooms. The staff seemed unconcerned and uninvolved.

The room smelled like mildew. There was big black stain in the middle of the carpet by the beds, which made us wear shoes at all times. The bed covers had many huge yellow stains on the underside and did not smell fresh.

My husband and I woke up with back pain each day. There were not enough towels nor wash cloths and the bathroom was tiny. The continental breakfast and indoor pool were the decent features I can refer to.

My daughter and I stayed here last year and had a wonderful time. Though not a true "Inn" as the reviewers before us said, it is a nice place to stay. The continental breakfast was very good. The pool was very pretty and fun to swim in. It was near or almost near anything we wanted - food, shopping or gas.
We made a note to comeback next year, but mislaid the map with the name of the hotel. We drove around so we could find it this year - and we have made a note that in 2008 - it's the Yankee Inn for us!

I am a frequent business traveler to the Berkshires and more often than not stay at the Yankee Inn. It is convenient, affordable and comfortable. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable.

I visited recently and was upgraded to a king-size room in the main building. The main building rooms are much nicer than those in the South Building, which are still more than adequate. I plan to continue starying here when I need to visist Western Massachusetts.

We stayed here for two night in early June of 2007. This is not an
"inn"...unless you're expecting a Comfort Inn on a highway! The pictures are very cleverly taken to conceal this fact, but don't be fooled. The shot of the pool somehow hides that it is yards from the highway and in the front of the property. I don't know why they bother showing the downtown shots of Lenox...you have to drive a ways
to get there. This hotel is essentially in Pittsfield. Also the view of the hotel with the lake in the back is not correct. The lake looks
like a swamp in person and there is a new construction project going up behind the property that renders the balcony a waste. And be warned there is construction noise during the day, too! Our room had not been cleaned and the staff did not clean the room or give us new towels (there were only 2 in the room) after our first night. The sound on the tv kept fading in and out. The staff seemed to be made up of bored high school or college students. They were unhelpful
and not knowledgable or welcoming in any way. We felt completely scammed by this place and would not recommend it to anyone. $150 a night for a motel on the highway!! Ridiculous.

  • Liked — Not much...if I have to say something good I'll say the continental breakfast wasn't bad.
  • Disliked — The location, the view, the cleanliness problem, the poor AC, the staff, etc.
