“Awful”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

We have been here 3 times for dinner, twice by friend requests, and third on our own. Each visit was worst than the previous. We do not understand how this place gets great reviews.

On our last visit, my spouse got the hamburger and I got the pumpkin risotto. The burger was dry and bland, and they forgot his burger toppings which he finally got when he was almost done. My risotto was so peppery, I could not taste the pumpkin in it. Ditto for the chicken that came with it.
Service was slow and pretty awful.
I don't care who suggests this place again, we are not going back

“Disappointing Breakfast-Counter service”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We went in for breakfast and it was a let down. First of all, it's counter service, Not a huge fan. Secondly my egg wrap had over cooked scrambled eggs, spinach that had to be left over from last nights dinner service and not de-stemmed. My husband had eggs over easy, But they were fired to solid pucks.

“A MUST if you visit or live in Lexington”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

Every town should have a Via Lago in it. It's ideal for lunch, with several options for homemade salads, pastas, sandwiches, etc. and the option of dining in the restaurant with silverware and china for the same price as take-out. A seriously good healthy lunch under $10 AND you can dine. Even better is their dinner, with a very creative presentation in the menu, lots of unique items to taste and explore, a very local welcoming feel, yet an environment that has a touch of class. Every time my husband and I go to the bar for a drink before heading home, we end up meeting the people sitting left or right of us. If we go to Lexx or Vinebook Tavern, that NEVER happens. The hospitality here is WONDERFUL!

“Wow!”
Reviewed 13 December 2013 via mobile

What a great meal at Via Lago! We started with a fresh garden salad full of veggies and a delicious citrus vinaigrette. Then we had an amazing scallop with potato cake dish that was unbelievable. Entrees were equally delicious-- salmon and chicken. Brian, our server, was lovely and attentive. A great time!

“A dinner gem in Lexington”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

At breakfast and lunch, Via Lago is an order-at-the-counter eat-in/take-out place, but completely transforms itself at dinner into a white tablecloth fine dining establishment. Some reviews posted here are for lunch, some are for dinner, so be sure to read carefully! Via Lago at dinner is a true gem in Lexington, offering innovative "city" cuisine at "suburban" prices (rarely does the menu have an entree over $20). Special themed menus rotate frequently, balancing long-time favorites. Hearty appetizers include fried calamari served with a spicy remoulade and garlic aioli, and Peking duck spring rolls, our favorite. Several pastas and a risotto are always on the menu, along with salad and sandwich offerings. But the entrees are outstanding: you'll typically find salmon, another fish, sea scallops, pork, chicken or duck, and beef to choose from, all served with appropriate sides. High-top tables in the bar area offer a more casual atmosphere; you can watch whatever sports event is on TV. There's a full bar, and a wine list that tends towards the inexpensive—a deliberate choice on the part of the owner. Reservations are accepted only for large parties. Service is friendly but a bit casual. Expect a wait on busy nights! A great choice for a reasonably priced meal if you're staying at any of the hotels in the area; it's just a mile and a half from the Aloft and Element, for example.
