“Lovely setting, difficult art”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

The grounds and sculpture park here are terrific--creative, fun works amidst beautifully landscaped, rolling grounds. A true upper crust New England place minutes from Walden Pond and historicmConcord and Lexington. The museums collection is contemporary, interesting but sometimes difficult tomunderstand. Tip: take a guided tour when available. Then the current exhibition becomes understandable. The signs don't generally do the trick. Great views from the rooftop terrace. Relaxing cafe.

“Beautiful Place to Visit”

The De Cordova is a world-class museum & sculpture park where you can stroll the beautiful grounds and see great outdoor sculpture, then go inside & view compelling exhibits, including some that are kid-friendly & interactive. There is a cafe, too.

This is a unique offering and has appeal for all ages. Go with an open mind, bring a picnic, a camera and wear comfortable shoes. The grounds are spectacular and the sculptures are wonderful as well as the museum interior.

“Nice Break from Historic Sites”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

If you are touring the Boston area and would like to see something totally different check out the DeCordova Museum. Like any great art museum it will prompt discussion. Some of the installations are profound, others will seem absurd, but it will get you talking. The museum includes a sculpture garden that is fun to explore along with rotating art exhibitions inside the museum. Your experience here will vary depending on what is being shown at the time.

You may not want to visit if you have small children that like to get into stuff. Most exhibits are not "hands on" although they may look like they should be to little kids. I think it is great for children to be exposed to art, and the museum does have some areas developed specifically for kids, but other areas might be frustrating for you if you have to keep an iron grip on a toddler.

Be sure to make it to the roof deck for a nice view of the grounds. It seemed to be missed by many visitors while we were there.

“Great museum - beautiful grounds and interesting exhibits”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2013

The day we went was a little humid and the grounds were damp from previous rains, but the sculpture garden was still fun and filled with lots of interesting sculptures. The museum building (interior exhibits) itself was an added treat, and we enjoyed our refreshments at the cafe. It's filled with lots of visual and thought-provoking images - good for all ages. We would definitely recommend the DeCordova. There were lots of interesting items in the gift shop - it would be a great place to get a unique gift for someone.
