“Ruth and Skip went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect!”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

For those people looking for something off the beaten path, we would highly recommend The Seagull Inn on Marblehead. The area feels rather exclusive, yet comfortable. My husband and I and two children (11 and 8) stayed four nights. We stayed in the Seabreeze, and it was perfect for us, especially with the twin room down the hall. The deluxe continental breakfast was healthy as I desired with homemade granola, and a bit sinful with freshly made pastry sweets of some sort each morning. Ruth and Skip are definite pros at hosting. We loved the convenience of having all of the beach necessities, and appreciated all of the driving directions. Marblehead is gorgeous in of itself, but we also took the subway in to Boston--very easy--and also explored nearby Salem and Rockport. This is a great Inn location to satisfy all of our family needs from city to beach to historic fun! Thanks, Ruth and Skip!

The owners, Skip and Ruth, are wonderful people. They were very welcoming when we first got there. We were offered wine and a beer and then we spent some time chatting. Our room was very cozy and private. Try the "library suite" if you can. The rooms have comfy beds, snacks are provided and the bathroom was very clean. The Inn is in a beautiful part of Marblehead. We took long walks in the mornings and admired the surroundings. Downtown Marblehead is very quaint and has great restaurants. You will love Seagull Inn!

Kimberly and I loved our stay at the friendly Seagull: Skip met us with a glass of wine and (for me) a Manhattan (a great one, too). Guests are made immediately to feel part of the family.

The location is stunning, on a hill across the harbor from Marblehead proper amidst gorgeous houses in a nice neighborhood. Good damage-free on-street parking. The Continental-plus breakfast is excellent, with Ruth's homemade muffins, Skip's biscotti, yogurt, oatmeal, etc.

We'll be back!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Sea breeze suite.

I am writing this review from an adirondack chair situated on the Seagull Inn's property. My husband and I got married May 18th and decided to do our "official" honeymoon in September (Disney). However we wanted to go away for 2-3 nights after the wedding day. He wanted it to be a surprise for me so I had no idea where we were going except it was near the ocean and within about a 2 hour drive.

We arrived at the Seagull Inn after an incredibly long wedding day, 2 hour drive, and busy week. Upone enteriong the inn, we were immediately hugged and offered a bottle of champagne by Ruth and Skip. Immediately we felt at home here. We had never been to Marblehead and they gave us great information about where to visit, eat, etc. I cannot even emphasize enough how much we loved Skip and Ruth and talking with them.

The location is amazing. You are a two minute walk to Castle Rock which boasts stunning ocean and coastal views. There are also several other great beach/coastal locations to check out.

Breakfast is amazing with a lot of variety. I was partial to the homemade oatmeal with various additions if you wanted such as cranberries, almonds, etc. We never left hungry.

My husband booked the Lighthouse Suite which is absolutely perfect. It is two levels and also has a rooftop deck. There are modern updates to the kitchen and bathroom and the decor makes you feel like you are in Coastal Living magazine, no lie! Although we have eaten out several times, today it has been nice to take a run to the store and buy some steaks to do up ourselves on the deck's gas grill. The suite has it's own multi-level deck. We always have everything we needed including a stocked kitchen and linen closet. The suite is extremely clean.

I have stayed at a variety of B and B's over the years and while I have enjoyed a few of them, none of them compare to this place. It has been wonderful to kick back and relax for a few days after our wedding. We can go out if we want and if not, we have the comforts of home. Actually, this place is much nicer!

If you are coming to this area, check out the Seagull Inn. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Lighthouse Suite is very private.

The Seagull Inn, Marblehead, MA was the most enjoyable accommodations I have ever experienced. From the moment we walked up through the lovely front lawn, and were greeted by the proprietors, Ruth and Skip, we were pampered. After Skip asking if he could help, he offered us a glass of wine… then we were shown around the property … Our “room” actually turned out to be 2 adjoining rooms with a breathtaking view of the ocean.. then we were told if we needed more space we could take the next room too. When have you ever been told that at any lodging?? The room was lovely with a very New England/Ocean motif – most of the artwork and furniture made by Skip… Nice assortment of COMPLEMENTARY snacks … including a decanter of Sherry! For breakfast we were greeted by Ruth’s amazing assortment of fine foods from homemade hand ground wheat biscuits to lox and raspberry butter. Lovely conversation with Ruth and Skip added so much to the breakfast and the stay. After 2 days I felt like a member of the family instead of a stranger renting a room. I already inquired about staying next year and would absolutely recommend it to anyone..

Room Tip: I believe each room has an ocean view

We stayed at the Seagull Inn in the Seabreeze suite for a few days this week and it was fantastic. From the moment you arrive Skip and Ruth great you with great smiles and warmth. Everything is wonderful to every last detail: from the breakfast to the snacks offered in the suite. It is charming, cozy, and you feel right at home. We will be going back again in the future.

Room Tip: The seabreeze suite is terrific for families where as the lighthouse suite is perfect for a couple...

We just returned from a visit to Boston, MA the week of the Boston Marathon 2013. We were renting an apartment on Newbury Street, just over from the explosion and due to the events, we were suddenly displaced. In an effort to make the best of a touch situation and see another area of Massachusetts, we searched the internet for a B&B north of Boston and found the Seagull Inn. They had a room available so we headed there right away. When we arrived, Skip greeted us as if our visit had been planned for months. The home is filled with his woodcarving skills and fabulous artwork and has the feeling the wonderful seaside home you wish you had grown up in. It is sunny, comfortable, inviting and the rooms are filled with yummy bedtime snacks to nosh on as you drift away reading a wonderful book you pull from a nearby shelf. Ruth creates a wonderful continental buffet in the morning and both she and Skip are superb conversationalists. They are knowledgeable about the surrounding area and advised us on all the must sees in the area. A brief walk from the B&B took us to Castle Rock and beautiful views and around another bend was a lighthouse followed by sweeping views of a harbor at the next stop with more gorgeous photo ops. To say we were lucky to find this gem of a B&B and it's hosts on such short notice is a huge understatement. The night we were displaced to Marblehead ended up being the best part of our week long trip to Boston. We only regretted that we had not stayed there the entire week! I only hope we are fortunate enough to visit Skip and Ruth again in their beautiful home and hope that someday you are that lucky as well!

Room Tip: You cannot go wrong. The beds are comfortable and we got a tour the day we left of the other downsta...
