“Harbor views and History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

I walked around the fort and surrounding area. Beautiful little coves. Benches to sit and enjoy the view. The local people were very friendly. Lots of history and great photo opportunities.

“Great Place On The Harbor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

I love Fort Sewall for lying in the sun or reading or dozing off. It's right at the mouth of the harbor, directly across from Chandler Hovey Park out on the Neck. Well, of course they'd build the fort at the mouth of the harbor. It's not really easy to get to, you need to cross the entire breadth of Marblehead to get there and the streets are narrow. Parking right at the Fort is very limited. If you see a space on the street as you near the Fort I'd grab it. No sweat, the area is beautiful, nice quaint houses and a few restaurants so walking about is fun. There's a small beach right at the entrance to the park but it disappears at high tide but is nice. All sorts of old fortifications there, plenty of shade too which is nice. A few paths you can walk about tho the whole place is only about 1/4 mile by 1/4 mile. Walk to eating places if you want to partake before or after.

“Nice Walk”

A lovely walk through Marblehead to a public park with beautiful views of the harbour and lighthouse. Sit on one of the benches and enjoy the view.

“Fantastic Ocean Vista”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

This seaside park is full of history; there are underground bunkers from the civil war; and plaques attesting to its importance in our maritime history. Our Grandmother took us to this spot over 50 years ago; and to this day, this is my favorite ocean vista. You look back to Marblehead Harbor and the colorful sails of hundreds of boats; you look across to Marblehead Light and the many mansions of Marblehead Neck; and you look forward to the amazing expanse of the open ocean. It is a highly elevated park where you feel on top of the world, where you can picnic, walk or jog, sit and watch the boats go by, or just dream of a seafaring life.

“One of my favorite places in Marblehead”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

I live here....so, I get to visit this spot all of the time. It makes a great walk and you are rewarded with lovely views of the harbor as well as great views of the ocean out to Children's Island and beyond. If you take the time to read the plaques surrounding the site, you will get a sense of the history.
