3 cod is bar food but very good. Chip, the owner, is a great guy and now has his son working with him.

The food at Three cod tavern is good but the wait is long for the number of people there.

We were all mad when they ran out of clam chowder at 6:45. We felt it was early for this to happen.

I would recommend this restaurant

Considering a few months prior this restaurant was very good , now to come back and have my dinner be so disappointing was a shocker.
The home website states the best Prime Rib on the North Shore I guess it didn't include mine, it was lukewarm (at best) under cooked and the toughest to slice and our waiter agreed. I was served a side salad with the meal it consisted of lettuce, shredded carrots and 2 cucumbers ..Really not worth the $24.99.
My husband had the Swordfish steak, very small portion at best again not worth the price.
Very pricey appetizers, $ 18.49 for5 shrimp coctail.
Surprisingly empty restaurant for a Saturday night , while the neighboring restaurant was packed inside and outside.
The staff here are wonderful and very accommodating but it's with great sadness to say I won't be coming back here

Everyone, especially owner Chip Percy, will make you feel welcome and special. It has that down home atmosphere with enough sophistication to let you know you’re in a quality place. The menu is pure New England, ranging from an amazing clam chowder and clam roll to baked or broiled scallops and halibut, but with enough seared sirloin and stuffed, boneless breasts to satisfy any landlubber. Don’t ask for any drinks to be doubles; if you do, it’s a sure sign you’ve never had one there before. Come, enjoy. You’ll be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Three Cod Tavern. The Haddock plate, the Wedge salad and the oyster stew, which is what we had I would recommend highly. The onion rings for starters were as good as it gets. The location in an old building near the water (but not on the water) was superb. Our waitress was very attentive.

We will definately return on our next trip to Marblehead.
