“A top choice for the area”
Reviewed 20 October 2011

The location of this B&B is ideal: it sits in a charming old town and is right by the water, yet it's convenient for seeing the sights in New Bedford. The innkeeper, Deanne, is very pleasant and helpful, and offers a delicious hot breakfast. The common areas of the house are very appealing. My only hesitation is about the room we stayed in. The Nantucket room has a lovely private bath but it is not attached to the bedroom; you have to cross the main hall at the top of the stairs to get to it -- it's a bit annoying to have to dress to go take a shower. In addition, we found the walls thin and the floors noisy. I would recommend staying in the Sail Loft room, which is much bigger and does not share any walls with neighboring rooms.

Room Tip: Try the Sail Loft Room.

The Mattapoisett Inn may be virtually the only place in town but it is an exceptionally good one, from the genuine welcome of innkeeper Deanne to the tastefully appointed rooms and the imaginative breakfast on the patio, not to mention the charms of a totally unspoilt village on a picturesque bay. Mattapoisett may not be on everyone's route to/from Cape Cod but it's more than worth the detour.

My wife and I visited the South Coast for the first time and had a wonderful time at the Inn. Having worked in hospitality for some 35 years and being an investor in hotels, it was a genuine treat to stay at his charming inn. The Innkeeper Deanee is both a tremendous cook and host.... can't wait to return

How do you describe such a marvelous place? Charming, relaxing, quaint, picturesque, inviting and more! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Deanne is a wonderful innkeeper and cooks some of the best breakfast you will ever have the pleasure of eating! Leo & Ann

This is one of the rare places where everything is done right and almost everything is exceptional. Start with the innkeeper, Deanne, who is everything you could hope for: warm, knowledgeable, generous and a great, great cook. We drove friends staying elsewhere crazy with envy when we'd describe that morning's breakfast -- always an imaginative selection of fresh fruit, eggs and bacon along with a specialty of the day, such as blueberry pancakes, eggs Benedict or clafoutis, all served on the back porch overlooking a lush garden. The rooms are comfortable -- especially the beds -- and nicely decorated. Get the Sail Loft if it's available as it's the largest, but all are very nice. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

The Mattapoisett Inn is located in quiet Mattapoisett, Ma right across from the harbor. Deanne warmly greeted us as we arrived for our 2 night stay. The Inn, both on the inside and outside, looks like it came right out of a book on New England inns. In the front, the little white picket fence with the lovely flowers frame the Inn while the backyard hosts beautiful gardens which provide a feast for the senses.and are carefully maintained. Our room was very clean, comfortable and lovely. Most of the rooms have a beautiful harbor view. The breakfasts, which were prepared with such care, were absolutely delicious and served on the cozy back porch with views of the beautifully manicured gardens. Deanne provided us with information related to our interests and was always so helpful. We loved staying at the Mattapoisett Inn and hope to return soon!
