Description: Where laughter is required. Jacket & tie are not. Going out with friends or a special someone means choosing a neighborly place that feels as comfortable as home, where conversation flows as easily as a smooth cabernet. Welcome to Ceia Kitchen + Bar. A new kind of nightlife in the heart of Downtown Newburyport, introducing this area"s first extended kitchen hours for later night dining or tete-a-tete cocktails with flavorful small plates. Our exposed brick interior with mellow lighting, cozy banquets and featured cocktail bar beckon even impromptu visits to this reliable neighborly eatery where singles, dates and a posse of good friends are assured of a comfortable night out with delicious food and great company. The spirit of Ceia (pr. SAY-yah) is in the translation of our name: "supper" in Portuguese, the language of one country included among the inspiring stops of our coastal European culinary repertoire.

The new location of this restaurant is fantastic for both their bar and their food. If it looks crowded on the first floor venture to the third floor bar and you will likely find a seat. The food is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend the octopus.

But I won't go back soon. Food was bland as was our waiter. They were not busy during our early reservation, but the attention paid to our table was minimal.

We've been several times and it has always been delicious. Today I tried the duck crepes - wonderful. Service is great and friendly. This is one of our favorite spots.

When reviews say "noisy" we steer clear, but the menu at Ceiba was so good I called to get info. They suggested dining on the second floor at 6:30 instead of 7:00 and had a window table ready when we arrived. Complimentary glasses of Prosecco were quickly served.

The menu is inventive and easy to understand; Chelsy our server expertly answered questions; she was also personable, obliging, and unobtrusive which made the dinner even more fun.

Dishes were expertly prepared and beautifully presented with a unique blend of tastes and textures. Portions were reasonably sized with a focus on quality vs. quantity; a pet peeve of ours is portion-overkill which happens at too many restaurants.

Stopped by for drinks on a week night, very quiet. We hiked to third floor to check it all out.
Super cool ambiance , great decor. I loved the large table , almost family style, on the second floor with a view into the open kitchen. I found the wine selection so so and expensive. Beautiful glasses though and a fair measured pour. We decided to make dinner reservations for the weekend..we had first time guests to Newburyport. So this was a risk....with so many good options in town. I think their reaction was ..."OH ! this is expensive. " the menu was narrow , a factor of the very small kitchen and a desire to be unique. So three of us ordered the least expensive items , $16. Kobe burger and one $18. risotto..( about 1 1/2 c ..not enough for leftovers) . Service was excellent . We all loved our meals, truly delicious! cocktails were about $11.50. One round of drinks, no apps or dessert and with tip we spent $140. If that is not a big deal to you , the hipster atmosphere and delicious food can be recommended . Our guests did comment that it was difficult to hear. Also they, do have a few street level / outdoor tables. There is nothing special about their setting. It would be better to just enjoy the decor inside. ...one more thing I had requested a particular table....for 8 pm on a Saturday night and my request was met....always impresses me!
