Firehouse Center for the Arts
Ranked #8 of 31 things to do in Newburyport
Attraction details

We went here to see a band that we follow perform a Dan Fogelberg tribute. We had never been to the Firehouse before. The show room is small as is the aisle spacing. The chairs were old and colud be more comfortable. The stage is a nice size bringing the performers close. This should work well for shows also. The sound was very good. The restrooms are in the basement and with the hall on the second floor it is a little inconvienent but they do have an elevator. They were selling soft drinks but our water was warm, we were offered ice and took it(this should be an easy fix). We will look for more events here as we did enjoy the event and would go again. It is located in the center of town so if you get there early it would be possible to have a meal and walk it off befor the show.

The Theater itself hasn't got that theater ambiance it should have and the plays, etc. I have seen there are not that great. I think it is more of a proving ground for new material.

I attended a Tom Rush concert here. The small size of the room allowed for more of a connection with the artist than you might expect for such a marquee act. It is located in downtown Newburyport next to its Waterfront Park, so take in the local ambience, shops and restaurants, too.

A good place to go to see local talent and at times regional entertainers. A small place that has a comfy atmosphere. Near the river so you can walk the boardwalk afterwards.

This little gem offers everything from art displays in the lobby to plays to incredible music events. The size of the audience is not so big so no matter where you sit you can see the stage - there are no sight restrictions. Subscribe to their online emails and learn all the fun things they offer throughout the year. The Ten Minute Play competition is not to be missed.
