“The best fried food in the area!!!”
Reviewed 15 July 2011

Park Lunch has the best fried scallops, clams, shrimp and fish in the area. I am a freak for fried scallops and these are the best I've ever had! This place is where the locals go because it's terrific. Tourists go to the Black Cow, Michael's Harborside and the Starboard Galley, but Park Lunch beats them all!

“The best clams !!!!!”
Reviewed 12 July 2011

Hadn't been home to New England in 10 years and needing some good clams. After checking Trip Advisor and finding that our old favorite for clams had gone downhill we cheked this place based on recomendations. Wow - wow - wow!!!!!! If you want fried clams this IS the best. And their sour cream & chive french fries were awesome.

“Local favorite”
Reviewed 29 June 2010

This is a great local family restaurant that doubles as a hang out for the local sports teams both old and young. It could double for the set of Cheers - in that everybody seems to know each other. The walls are decorated with pictures of the local high school sports teams and college pennants. As I said this is a truly local restaurant. We bring guests from out of town and country to get a feel for the real Newburyport and mid-America. Do not be fooled by the very plain exterior.
The food is simple, fresh, local, plentiful and great value. The fried shrimp and the fried haddock are excellent as is the pizza. The beer selection is pretty good - Bass and Guinness are on tap.. They do serve wine - red, white and pink! All the prices are reasonable, with dinner for 2 with drinks and tip under $40.

The major drawback is that this is a very popular place especially on weekends and they do not take reservations - so you need to come prepared to wait.

“best kept secret....”
Reviewed 24 February 2008

only a half mile or so from downtown but always busy and food, service, and prices are great. been going there for years and years and will continue to do so ( i am lucky enough to live nearby). pleasant atmosphere for families or couples. specials daily for lunch and dinner. usually a waiting line for dinner but well worth it and there is an inside waiting area or belly up to the bar for a cold one while you wait and catch some sports on one of their large TVs.
Kind of like a "Cheers" ...where everyone knows your name and owner (Say hi to Mike Doyle from "Ski") is always strolling around chatting it up with locals and tourists alike.
across the street is Cashman Park playground for kids and waterfront for people watching along the merrimac river.
Oh, and almost forgot about the fried clams.....Best around !!!
