“Labor Day getaway”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

Very convenient to Minuteman National Park and train is nearby for trip into city if you want to avoid driving in. Can't beat the free parking and room rates much lower than the Marriott in the city. Down side is the hotel is in a residential area off the Interstate so not much to do there. Typical very good Marriott service and comfort.

We went to Newton, Mass because my husband had a conference at this Marriot property. The front desk staff was very hospitable and friendly, but when we got to our room we saw that they had not honored our request for a King size bed. Instead, we had two double beds. We did not ask for another room because it was 9:00PM when we checked in and we were pretty sure the King size rooms were probably taken. We had a restless night's sleep trying to sleep in the double together. The next night we just gave up and each of us slept in our own double bed. The bathroom was not made for two people to get ready in at the same time. It wasn't completely clean, the top surfaces were clean, but the apron on the sink, the wood part in the front had toothpaste or something from other people before us. We had one caffeinated coffee packet in our room, which seems a little stingy especially since there is theoretically room for 4 people in the room. We asked the second day for an extra coffee packet. Our room had a floor to ceiling window that was not very well insulated, so it was cold when not in bed. It seems to me this hotel may cater to conferences, but not necessarily to overnight guests. We ordered room service for breakfast the one morning we were there and it did not arrive on time. On the paper it said that if they didn't have it there on time it would be free, but they charged us for it. The wait staff that brought our breakfast was so polite with a smile, although obviously out of breath from all the breakfasts he was delivering. He almost ran out of our room. We didn't complain because we didn't want him to be in trouble, obviously a staffing issue, not his fault. I would never bother staying here again unless a conference is scheduled.

Spent 4 nights there Thursday till Monday. Even though we had a king room on the concierge floor, the room & bathroom were quite small. If fact they were much smaller than the room we had the previous night in a Fairfield Inn about 30 miles away. One of the things I enjoy about full service Marriott's is their concierge floor/lounge. This time I was disappointed. The lounge was very small - particularly for the size of the hotel (430 rooms) and it closed early Friday until evening Sunday. The restaurant was fairly good but expensive. Breakfast was also fairly good but we happened to sit down the same time as a couple of families with a lot of noisy kids. Hard to hear ourselves think. The hotel is very conveniently located - within sight of exits from the Mass TP & I-95. It only has 1 entrance to the parking lot and it gets difficult to get in/out during rush hour traffic. The hotel shuttle runs almost constantly to the Riverside stop on the "T". Far & away the best way to go into Boston proper at only $4 for a adult round trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the elevators or else you end up walking a long way.

I recently spent two nights at this property. On the plus side, the location is convenient, and the cost is reasonable. What made the stay good were the people--all of whom were friendly and eager to help. The restaurant was fine, but a little pricey even for a Marriott. On the down side, the hotel is ageing a bit. Small bathrooms, low ceilings, ill-fitting doors, and kind of dark, at least on my floor. In a competitive market I'd like to see a free bottle of water, and a more complete toiletry set. Finally--this is for Marriott Corp--WiFi is not some sort of exotica anymore. $12.95 per day/per device seems a little . . . overly pecuniary on your part. I may be back, but I'll definitely shop around.

Our overnight stay began with the room defeathered with foam pillows as requested. We did not have enough towels and there were no glasses in the room. However the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable even though the room showed its years of service by its tiny bathroom and bathroom door. Rooms could stand some updating. The location is great as it is right off I-95 (Route 128) expressway and next to I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike). Breakfast, included with our room charge for a small additional fee, provided a good enough selection. We like Marriott properties in general and will likely stay another time.

Room Tip: the 4th floor is the main floor including the lobby.

Hotel is very very large. It was sold out. Location is great for getting on and off interstate 95 or Mass Tpke (90). 15 minutes from downtown Boston area. We found rooms exceptionally clean, linens and towels great and plentiful. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Starbucks coffee served in lobby, have your own latte made your way! Wifi was extended as a courtesy to us as silver elite Marriott customers, however in today's world this should be freely given to all customers. I was surprised that it wasn't. Overall accomodations were excellent and this is a great hotel to stay at for an occassion (we went to a wedding in Brighton/cambridge area.)
Highly recommend this fine hotel.

Room Tip: fifth floor is first floor up from Lobby! so it is easy and convenient too.

Stayed at this hotel for both business and pleasure. It seems outdated and only has double beds or a roll in bed for 3 persons staying in one room. Very cramped, to say the least. This hotel seems far out of place for business. The staff was nice and the hotel food was actually pretty good. The hotel was also clean.
My complaint was with the hotel itself and the small size of the room we had. That beling said, I would only rate it average.
