We had rooms 1 and 4. Both were a good size, Room 1 especially. No aircon but ceiling fans that whirled up quite a breeze! (We sneaked a look at the room with the 4 poster which was beautiful).
The Benbow is about a 10 minute walk (uphill) from the centre of Oak Bluffs – not arduous but worth bearing in mind if you are elderly or infirmed. That said, the local bus (No. 13) does run past the Benbow, and you simply pull the wire to stop right outside.
We all enjoyed the continental breakfast (served 8.00 to 10.00) which was plentiful and the selection of warm muffins to die for. You can also help yourself to coffee and tea from 7.00.
Totally enjoyed our stay, it was a lovely genteel experience. Loved chilling on the verandah in the rocking chairs, and the genuine homely charm of the house.
Have to say we don’t think the photos on their website does the place justice. Would we recommend it to our best friends? “Yes”, in fact they were with us and loved it too!More
