“You will love this place!!”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

My children and I stayed here overnight and look forward to our next visit, since the owner, John, the day manager, Tiffany, and other staff were wonderful and the inn itself was charming and comfortable!! We got to ride in their immaculate, vintage 1956 Rolls Royce on a local tour offered by the owner, who asked if we were doing anything and did we want to see the sites. He was so nice!! Then Tiffany offered us beach towels, sunscreen and beach chairs when she heard us talking about heading to the beach. Wow! The location is right in the middle of things, yet you feel at home and it is quiet when you are in the room, especially with the air conditioner on. Our lovely, spacious and comfortable room had nice large windows with wonderful blinds from which we saw the sunset over the marina. We had modern amenities with classically charming decor. Besides nice toiletries in the clean and newly tiled modern bathroom, there were popsicles, fudgsicles, fruit, energy bars, bottled water and hot beverages available 24/7 in an air conditioned porch next to the garden sitting area complete with wonderful jacuzzi. My children and I cannot wait to go back!! It was bliss!

Margie!

You and your children were bliss! We loved having you at the hotel - your enthusiasm and love for the Vineyard really made us so happy and to be able to have that energy in the hotel was just the cherry on top! How fun is the Rolls Royce Courtesy Car? We love it just as much as you did and it's still a treat every time we get to drive a guest around our lovely island :)

We can't wait to have you back - we are all still talking about how fun you and children were - thank you for staying with us - it was truly our pleasure to have you!

We enjoyed our stay at the Dockside and for the most part the owners and help were nice. The redhead front desk clerk was a little grouchy.... maybe she was having a bad day. The inn has been recently remodeled so it was very clean and nicely decorated. There was one major problem though and that was the blinds. They let in too much light. During the night it was almost bright enough to read a book because of the light coming in from the porch. We stayed on the east side and the sun was up early which really lit up the room. It took two nights before my husband told me that he had an eye mask, so the third night I slept well. It's too bad about the blinds because, I'm sure they were expensive... The only other weakness was the breakfast. They have a nice assortment of granola bars and coffees and at 8 am they put out some chopped up danishes and/or donuts. Having toast and bagels would have been more appealing. Also, it would have been nice if the breakfast room would open before 8 am. Remember, we were up at 5 am with the sun shining through our blinds :).

First, thank you for choosing the Dockside Inn - we very much enjoyed having you. As this is our first year of ownership of this property with that comes some trial and error with furniture and fixtures, amenities, and general operation. We very much appreciate and take your feedback very seriously and you have offered us some great info. What blinds show the most light, what customers are looking for in the morning, what time we should open the common area spaces - your input is valuable and will absolutely be considered for possible alternations and changes to the hotel in the future.

You know what they say, "You don't know what you don't know." - Thank you kindly for making us aware of these things :)

We hope to have you back at our property sometime soon and wish you a cool summer!

If you have the cash, it's a great place to vacation. The entire hotel was recently renovated, new rugs, wall paper, paint, beds, furniture, fixtures...the works. Friendly staff. Wicked convenient location, right off the ferry dock. I am a noise-intolerant person by nature, and was worried that the dock noise would be a spoiler, but our room #34 was very quiet and comfy. Really great views 270-degrees, large windows. Free ice creams and coffee bar was a nice extra. We watched fireworks last weekend from the outside hall on 3rd floor. Hot tub is small. Walk to bars, shops, boats. You can rent a car/jeep across the street and negotiate free overnight parking with the rental mgr. You can rent a bike next door. I know this sounds like an advertisement--it isn't. My only complaint is the price. We are a family of four and need space. Suite #34 cost $330/night, ouch. But the room was ample, well equiped, and the conveniences of it's location pays dividends.

Room Tip: Book room #34 if you can!

We stayed one of the suites which was perfect for my wife and I to celebrate her birthday. The suite was very clean and practical and we loved having a kitchenette for easy meals. The staff were very kind and even made special note of my wife's birthday which was a very welcoming surprise! We were very impressed with the coffee room for snacks and such as well as the complimentary use of beach towels, coolers, umbrellas and beach chairs. We had a great stay and will stay there again when staying at Martha's Vineyard. The location was perfect in Oak Bluffs with everything in within a few blocks, but not feeling like it was too hectic to relax. We felt we got our money's worth. The only change I would make about the place is adiing curtains that block out more light as the bedroom was very bright once the sun was up.

We stayed for our Anniversary weekend June 9-11. The minute we walked in the front door we knew we were in for an amazing weekend. The Inn is gorgeous,so warm and inviting, with the ocean less than 200 ft away. Manning the front desk, which at the time we didnt know was one of the owners,Caleb. I have never seen an owner work at a property they owned. He was a true breath of fresh air, service was impeccable , as was our room # 22. We needed ice for the coolers which they provide,he had a bag to us in 3 minutes! The breakfast/coffee room was an added delight w/ fresh fruit and muffins and all the coffee/tea you can drink! The Jacuzzi in the court yard was a bonus for the cooler island nights. I had planned a surprise for my husband w/dinner at Jimmy Sea's and then a sunset /lighthouse tour to renew our wedding vows, but didnt have a car. The Inn's owner has a1956 Rolls Royce which was offered to take us around for this special night , and once again it was Caleb who did the driving. His passion for his business shines through and through, you are his top priority the minute you walk through the front door. That evening was a life time memory we will share with our grandchildren. Staying at The Dockside Inn will make a life time memory for you too , make this Inn your island get away, you'll be glad you did ! The Nortons of Squantum highly recommend this Inn. It's a 10+ and we can't wait to go back !

Room Tip: Any room you stay in you will be delighted , sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch pricel...

Thank you for your kind words - we have to say without a doubt that you and your husband left a lasting impression on us as well. You two were pure joy from the moment you walked in and your love for each other was apparent. We're honored to have taken part in on of your top life memories and we will be sure to let Caleb know how fondly you speak of him and how he truly did all to surprise and delight you.

We wish you a most pleasant summer and hope very much that you come back again soon!

Stayed ther fom June 4 thru June 7, 2012. Loved it. One of the mosty comfortable beds, towels, rooms I have been in in along time. They did a great job renivating the place. Great look and comfortable colors choices make it a homey feeling with a luxury edge. Walkng distance to everytting on Oak Bluffs. Right in the thick of the action. Do not have to worry about outside noise the place is built like a tank. There is no noise between the rooms or outside noise coming into the room while sleeping. All the Inn pesonnel where really friendly and helpful. Spoke to the owner about makling the coffee service available more than just 8 am to 10 pm for ealy risers and late nighters.... he seemed warm to the idea. Owner John was a fountain of area info. The texting concierge was very helpful at all times of the day...great idea. We will deninately be back and stay at the Dockside!

Room Tip: Rooms on the corners get extra side window that is worht the location at no additional cost to the r...

We can't tell you how much your words and feedback mean to us. We had a few very specific goals in mind when embarking on The Dockside Inn renovation project - one of those was maintaining the character of the original building and giving homage to the amazing history of Oak Bluffs architecture while also giving that same building a modern and luxury edge. You noticed - thank you.

We also wanted our guests to feel like they were in the 'middle-of-it-all' while also having privacy and silence. You experienced just that - and that makes us so very happy.

Loomis & John are full of useful info and sometimes quippy one liners....we are proud to have them as part of the team.

Chris - we really do look forward to having you back - sooner rather than later.
