“Awesome place, fantastic location”
Reviewed 5 July 2012

My husband and I came to visit with our 9 month old son for the 4th of July. The accommodation were beautiful and we were right in the center of town. What made this place so special was the service we received from the owner John, himself. He treated us like royalty from the second we arrived until the time that we left------no wonder why he received the govenors award of nicest guy in town ( lol)! He helped us with our luggage, recommended the best places in town and even drove us in the hotels courtesty ROLLS ROYCE to an amazing resteraunt (the atlantic) in edgartown. A special thanks to Cathy Anderson too for being so kind to us and extra sweet to our son. The renovations to the hotel make this hotel feel luxureous yet the price was still reasonable. We can't wait to be back next year!

Just returned from a girls weekend at the Dockside Inn and would definitely recommend it to other travelers. We were celebrating my sister's birthday and stayed in Suite 34 - we were very happy with our accomodations. The room is clean, nicely decorated and was spacious enough for 4 adult women; especially the oversized bathroom. The location is perfect and can't be beat. Close enough to Circuit Ave and the Oak Bluffs harbor, but also just far enough away that it isn't too noisey at any time during the day or night. The complimentary coffee, snacks and icecream treats in the solarium are a greak perk, as well as the hot tub and complimentary beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers). One extra special perk was our complimentary ride in the Rolls Royce, driven by Caleb, one of the owners. We had coordinated in advance with the hotel and Caleb was very gracious as he gave us a little tour around Oak Bluffs before dropping us at the restaurant. We also found Loomis to be very responsive and helpful!

The only recommendations I would make would be 1) open the coffee bar up earlier in the morning. 8AM isn't early enough for those that wake at 6AM (especially given the new shades which some other travelers have noted let too much light in, which is true, although we didn't mind so much as we were eager to get up and out early every morning) and 2) a little help carrying our suitcases to and from the room would have been a nice gesture. We had quite a few bags with us and although we were accompanied to our 3rd floor room by one of the staff, she never offered to assist us. Not a huge deal, but like I said, would have been a nice gesture, especially for my 65-year old mother.

Room Tip: Room 34 is very spacious and would be good for a small family as well as a few adults. There are 2...

My friend and I and our daughters really enjoyed our stay in your newly renovated inn. I had been a guest there last year, so I could really appreciate all the updates and brand new furnishings etc. Especially liked the addition of the breakfast room and sundeck as well as the beach supply room. We didn't have to lug ANY beach stuff over to the island for the kids or ourselves! Thank you. I would say the only drawback to our experience was the early morning garbage truck that seems to linger on the streets around the inn for far too long far too early. On a positive note, it did wake me earlier than I wdve normally gotten up and I was able to squeeze in a nice morning jog by the beach before the island began to wake. Thx too to John (awesome host) for chauffeuring us to Edgartown in your beautiful 56 Rolls. A very nice added value and convenience! We'll be back! :)

Room Tip: We stayed in room 34...awesome views and nice little kitchen.

The Dockside Inn delivered for me many times over this past weekend. It was my fiancé’s 29th birthday, and I was in desperate need of planning and doing something “special” since the wedding-planning has mostly overshadowed everything else in our lives for the past year. After a number of hotel searches on Google and Yelp, I decided on giving this place a shot; mostly for its proximity to the Wood’s Hole/Oak Bluffs ferry and the Offshore Ale Brewery (we love visiting new brew spots).
Two weeks before the birthday weekend, I called to make the reservation. John (co-owner I believe) answered and was extremely helpful; he even gave a few moments of thought as to which room would be best for us now knowing it was for a birthday trip.
A few days after making the reservation, I came up with an ingenious plan – frame a bunch of pictures of me and fiancé and our dog together and mail them to the Inn to set up in our room. I called ahead, speaking with Tiffany for the first time, and explained my plan. She happily offered her help, sounding almost excited about the idea.
Upon arriving to the Inn after a 3 minute walk from the dock, we were happily greeted by Tiffany and given our keys. In the room, the pictures had been set up perfectly and my fiancé was blown away. The room was also stocked with a complimentary bottle of champagne and various snacks.
For the rest of the weekend, we could not have been more impressed with how clean the facilities were, how convenient the location was to everything, and how competitively priced the Inn actually was.
In regards to the convenience of location: We rented (ie negotiated) a moped from a place literally next door to the Inn, walked to the Offshore Ale Brewery, walked to Donovan’s Reef (learning about this little frozen drink stand from a few locals), and of course the Flying Horses. This list could go on and on..
All in all, we will be back and we will be bringing our friends. Enjoy!

Dana -

(We can't stop smiling) - You think you guys had a good time? I think sometimes guests forget how much joy we derive from seeing our guest's happy.....in the 'hotel world' your joy translates to real contentment for us....that's why we got into the business to be that 'place in the sun' for people like you.

What an amazing time for you and your fiance - we'll never forget the effort you put forth to make her feel like a queen. What an amazing guy. Thanks for choosing the Dockside Inn...couples like you two are the ones that truly make up the personality of our property - and with that we have to say - Thank You.

Hope to see you back soon,

The Dockside Inn Crew

We stayed at the Dockside for three nights in mid June. I think that given the great location and the price (about $160 a night), the Dockside is an excellent Value. While a lot of properties nickel and dime you, the Dockside provides quite a few "freebies" such as a coffee/tea bar with Keurig Coffees, breakfast bars, fresh fruit and popsicles and also offers complimentary beach towels and chairs.

Great staff, especially Tiffinay!

Room Tip: If you face the non marina side the sun blasts in pretty strong in the morning. We placed the bedsp...

It was our first trip to the island and we were pleased with how close the inn is to everything in Oak Bluffs. We could walk to the hotel from the ferry. You can walk to the beach as well. Towels and chairs were provided. The bed was comfortable. The room was fresh and clean . We had plenty of clean towels. John the owner was great about driving us to Edgartown in the Rolls Royce courtesy car. That was a wonderful perk! Being driven to a bike rental shop in a Rolls Royce only happens when you stay at the Dockside! Breakfast included apple fitters from Back Door Donuts. Complimentary ice cream treats were great to enjoy after getting out of the hot tub! The front desk staff coud not have been nicer. Nate and Tiffany went out of their way to answer questions. Our room was in the back and made it easy to get to the hot tub and the ice cream treats. It was also a quiet room. John the owner has done a great job making the guests feel comfortable. We were there for 3 nights, and can't wait to come back for a longer stay.
