We made reservations a month in advance, knowing how popular this little restaurant was. We had heard about the chef tasting menu and were excited to try it. My group of couples agreed to let the chef pick our small plates. We chose 4 courses and dinner. Each was spectacular, with ingredients that popped in your mouth. One plate--Bass Cheeks, we were not really sure about but were scraping our plates clean.

My boyfriend and I decided to give Red Cat a try hoping for a seat at the bar last minute since we didn't make a reservation. We were graciously seated at the bar rather quickly, and were lucky enough to get Caroline as our bartender/server. Caroline provided excellent service and provided us with quite the expert opinion on items to order as their menu options change regularly based on recent catches and farm produce. By far the BEST meal while in Oak Bluffs, or anywhere we visited. The atmosphere was very welcoming, drinks were great, and food was even better. Don't let this place pass you by if in Oak Bluffs!

Have eaten here at least 5 times! Every time I have a great experience. The fish dishes are outstanding and they have great snack items. The Chef uses his creativity when planning his dishes and create great flavors! Make a reservation!

The only real drawback we found here (which impacted us notably) was that being a small restaurant and small kitchen there is a limited ability they have to adapt recipes for those of us with food allergies. Despite the very limited options for us the food was fantastic, and Rose at the bar (where we ended up eating - even those seats are reservations seats) was a great host/server. The salads were good, the bluefin tuna stead was huge, and the black sea bass was also great. Rose also makes a pretty good mojito "mocktail".

GO - this back street bistro was fantastic. The food was anything but typical sea side tourist fare. You will need reservations - make them as soon as you know when you want to go. Sit on the porch.
