“Nice beach, a bit rocky”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2013

Plenty of room to choose your spot, but it attracts lots and lots of people each day. Get here early in the morning (before 10 or so and you're likely to have most of the beach to yourself - at least for a few minutes. The shoreline was a bit rocky, but tolerable.

“First beach we visited on the island”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

This beach was busy. The place is hopping and everyone is jumping from the bridge that says "no jumping from the bridge." There was a current in the water that pulled you toward the bridge. I really had to work to stay where I was in the water. The beach has lots of broken shells to make sure you were aqua socks to protect your feet.

“Convenient in-town location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2013

Although State Beach is definitely sandier and safer for small children, this "in-town" beach is spacious and oh so convenient. This beach tends to be seaweed-y and there is usually a band of rocks to cross before entering the water. But if you are staying in OB and this is within walking distance, it is great to walk or bike here, not struggle with parking, and be able to walk home for lunch or a nap. It is nice watching the ferry come in and out of the dock from this beach, and it is also good for snorkeling, especially around the jetty area. Be advised that bathroom facilities can be found at the ferry dock, a bit of a walk based on where you are sitting on the beach.

“Beaching”

Convenient to walk to from inn. Seaweed, lots of shells and small rocks but still nice. Shallow water for children with very small waves

“Beach? What Beach.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2013

The beach just down from the ferry pier had terrible access. Go further south a few miles fro a real beach.
