I found this at the last minute, and booked based on other reviews... I kind of guessed from reading that the negative reviews were one-offs or from those who had a different expectation.

Firstly, the couple that run the place couldn't do more to accommodate us, and were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in their breakfast room / reception area in the mornings was truly special.

In fact, the rooms were actually much nicer than the photographs on their website (something unusual). The rooms were spacious (we extended our stay and experienced a second room in a different block), and spotlessly clean. The fridge is really helpful, the TV worked well with full cable, and the WiFi was excellent (better than most big-chain hotels).

Don't be put off by the idea of "motel" or "independent." Most hotels on the Cape are independent, and this is a big enough motel / hotel that you don't feel in too intimate an environment. In fact, while the room doors are outside facing, it really didn't feel like a motel at all.

Finally, the location was fantastic. 1 mile to Skakert Beach (bay side)... 3 miles to Nauset Beach (Atlantic side), and a lovely town (Orleans), with many eating options. The pleasant strip mall across the road was useful for those extras one forgets on vacation.

Finally, it was fantastic value for money. We wouldn't have enjoyed the chains on the cape as much and we would have paid twice as much (says someone who spends the most part of working in chain hotels).

P.S. I didn't find the road annoying at all... but would remind visitors there is a side entrance which is not obvious (as the main entrance on the road is not easy to get out of).

Our second stay here, and will come back again. Rooms are spacious, very clean, modern bathrooms, microwaves, fridges and big flat screen with cable and HBO, lots of fluffy fresh towels. The WiFi worked better than most anywhere I have been, fast enough to stream Netflix on my iPad. Breakfasts were limited but good - fresh baked (right from the oven) muffins of 3 or 4 types, cereal, coffee/tea and juice. Generally quiet for location right on the highway, only noise from from other guests above moving around too early in the AM for me. Location is really central, right between Skaket and Nauset Beaches, near lots of restaurants, activities and shopping. Pool is a bit faded but adequate. The staff was really friendly, kept the service moving at breakfast, cleaned the rooms as soon as we were out of them in the AM, and the lady at the desk welcomed us back warmly, as it was our second time.

My sister and I brought our children to Cape Cod to spend time with our other sister and her kids. They stay in Brewster so we wanted accommodations close to them. We could not have asked for a better location and the rooms were perfect for us! Plenty of room, comfortable, clean and the staff were lovely. Even the sleeper sofa was super comfortable, which often is not the case! We were a short drive from Brewster and really enjoyed being on the Cape with our family. We will certainly stay here again if we travel to the Cape again in the future. There was also a lovely pool that we didn't have time to enjoy - but maybe next time! Thank you!!

Room Tip: We loved the suite of rooms that we had - Rooms 35, 34 and 34A…thank you!

We stayed here for a last minute get away. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and the price was very reasonable. Very convenient to may Cape attractions. The rooms were spacious and clean. The owners and staff made you feel very comfortable. We will definitely stay here next year.

Four years ago we found the best kept secret place to stay on the Cape - The Skaket Beach Motel !!!!! Location, Location, Location !!! They say location is everything; well you can't get a better location. But...even more importantly is the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. From the owners to staff, you are made to feel like family. Homemade fresh muffins every morning, coffee, tea, juice - YUMMY !!!! Just a little side note - we were greeted with hugs when signing in and flowers in our room with a "Welcome Back" card !!! It really doesn't get any better!

Basic Motel. Nice room and coffee / muffins / cereal in the a.m. Very Good cable television and internet. Small pool. A few miles from bay and ocean beaches. Directly across the street from a supermarket, shopping area, and excellent dinner / restaurant. Medium price ($150-200) during busy season.

Do not forget that the motel is only a two star hotel. Both room and pool are very basic and overpriced for what you get. Would personnally not return.
Beds confortable, paperwall torn. Really nothing else to add. Again, I would not return!
