Description: Mac Gallant and Mike McNamara have teamed up to launch the "New" Jailhouse Tavern. The new Lunch/Dinner menu is a nice combination of some of the old favorites which have been significantly enhanced in terms of quality, preparation and taste. In addition, Executive Chef Ashley Cole alongside Sous Chef Robert Askew serve up an array of new and exciting offerings that we can't wait for you to see and try! Mac has been the owner/operator of The Local Break in Eastham for the past 6 years which will continue operations at its current location. Mike has been a partner in the Jailhouse for the last 5 years and has been focused on the creation and development of the Hog Island Beer Company which will be entering into its 3rd summer this June. We look forward to sharing our craft and welcoming you back to the Jailhouse Tavern. Cheers!

If you remember the delicious fish tacos at the former Finbar's in Orleans, weep no more for they are available at The Old Jailhouse Tavern. Yes, they are still fabulous. Nice menu, attentive new owner and staff. It was not busy when we arrived since it is a bit early for the tourists and it was a weeknight. This was our first time since it has been renovated and has a new owner, the former Finbar owners. Great to have a nice restaurant like this with a very nice menu to add to our Cape Cod list of places to eat when the towns fill with tourists and there are long waits at the best places. I am going back for the clam chowder which is something I use to judge all restaurants in beach areas. If they can't make good clam chowder in an area surrounded by fresh clams, there is something wrong with the place. It is embarrassing that the best clam/fish chowder I have had consistently is served at It's Nutts near Lambertville, NJ. Give this place a try, you won't be sorry.

My wife and I ventured here for the 1st time, we were drawn in by the history of the building and the creative, extensive menu. Dinner time on a Friday night was a little busy, waited about 20 minutes to be seated. We were a bit thrown off trying to figure out parking and entrance as they have a large function hall around back which was hosting a gathering. For starters we both enjoyed a cup of Cape Cod Clam Chowder, which was great tasting, and a few beers. We both decided on The French Dip sandwich, excellent quality roast beef and the boursin cheese was out of this world delicious! We had never had that cheese before and are so happy to have been introduced to it! The lack of 5 stars is because the environment was way too loud for an enjoyable dinner, we could hardly hear each other speaking which was a little annoying. Would definitely go back for that French Dip sandwich again though!

We normally go there on the last night of our vacation, to celebrate with families and friends. This place is an old jail, converted to a restaurant. Both the onion soup and clam chowder are both very good. The menu selection are quite varied and the dishes are quite plentiful and worth the price.we have never been dissatisfied with our meals or the service and we look forward to returning next year.

When the Jailhouse was acquired by new owners I was very happy! I've been going there since the doors opened 25 years ago and it had fallen on hard times.I was hopeful for the future and was really disappointed when I went in last fall by poor food and the most obnoxious waitress I have EVER had. Went back last Saturday and was more than satisfied with the ambiance, food and most especially excellent service (ask for Vicki) THANK YOU Mark and your partner for restoring a local Gem to it's former glory!! I'll be back...OFTEN.
