The room we had smelled so bad ,that I ask to have another, that smelled also, but I was told they wont refund my money.Bed was as old as hotel, hard as a rock, I can't really say anything good about this motel and I have stayed in alot of hotels, motel's . I stayed in Motels 6 recently that was much better by far at a price that was three times less then I payed for this room. I would not recommend this motel to anyone

In this age when good customer service is rapidly diminishing and staff seem to do the bare minimum to get by doing their jobs, I have to say that the staff at Governor Prence is a big reason as to why we will continue to come back.

We stayed at the Gov. Prence a couple times in the mid 1990's and had mixed reviews of the place back then. It has improved since the last time we stayed in 1998. The Courtyard rooms are the rooms to get though, they are large and close to the pool. The fact they allow animals is cool if you travel with your "whatever" animal. I will not ever travel with an animal, bad enough having to travel with 3 crazy kids..hopefully they will mature properly and it will get better. The staff has improved quite a bit. The King Bed was pretty damn comfortable I might add, which is not always the case. There are better places to stay in Orleans but in a pinch the Gov. Prence almost always has a vacancy and is good for a few night stay. The newer fridge and microwave were very nice too.

They did not have many Wi-Fi repeaters so the in room signal was dependant on how close you were to the 1 antenna. Our reception in room 35 was poor.

My fiancee and I are always on the look out for establishments that are family friendly, and the Governor Prence Inn has it all, from A-1 staff and customer service to perfect location. After booking our room I placed a call to see if it would be possible to have a bottle of champagne in the room to surprise my fiancee. Colleen said there was no spirits on the premises, but assured me she would do "everything in her power to make that happen" for me. We checked in and went to our room, which was large, clean, and the bathroom was larger than normal, and clean as well, and sure enough there was a bottle of chilled champagne along side of a bouquet of freshly picked flowers from the grounds of the hotel.
Our goal was to log some miles on the bike trail and this hotel was right on the trail. We headed west on the trail to Nickerson Park, had a great day there, then headed back east and jumped off the trail right at our hotel. We walked our bikes to the pool area, which was clean and well kept. We took a swim to cool off from our 30 mile trek, then went to our room to change up for dinner.
This hotel is in walking distance of several great restaurants, shopping, Cape Cod League Baseball field, and a 3 minute ride to Nauset Beach, one of America's top 20 beaches.
I say this hotel is family friendly because, the rooms are large, and some are adjoining. There is enough room on the grounds for a good whiffle-ball game. The pool is centrally located with some rooms overlooking it. The Inn is right on the bike path. The Inn is in the proximity of everything you will need. Drive in and loose your car keys for the length of your stay. The Inn is reasonably priced. Colleen and the rest of the staff are second to none. Thanks for everything!!!!!
Some of the unattached buildings could use some paint here and there. No big deal to me.
If your in search of a Cape Cod beach style hotel with no "pomp and circumstance," that is family oriented, reasonably priced, perfectly located, and number one in customer service, The Governor Prence Inn should be your destination. We will be back soon with the kids and we're gonna stay longer.

We had a wonderful experience at Governor Prence. We were arriving well after office hours; Fran the night manager went out of his way to make sure that we were able to get into our room easily. The room appeared to have been newly renovated; it was spacious, with a comfortable King-size bed, nice rug, a microwave and a fridge. The room was quiet, and we slept well. In the morning, we awoke to great view of the pool, and a cute dog sitting on our doorstep. The continental breakfast was very satisfactory. Betsy at the front desk made us feel very welcome. Bernie, the head of housekeeping, did a marvelous job of making sure that the room did not suffer any ill-effects from the rainy, moldy summer that we have had so far; the room was fresh-smelling, and sparkling clean. We returned home after our weekend at Governor Prence feeling refreshed and invigorated! Governor Prence was a lovely find! We will be back!

We chose the Governor Prence because we expected to need to bring out dog along on the trip and it is one of the few in Cape Cod that allows pets. It would be tempting to say that the Governor Prence is more like a kennel that allows people to stay, too. It's not THAT bad, but the rooms and furnishings and building in general are tired and worn out. The bathtub could not be cleaned with anything short of a grenade. Anyplace else in America this would be an average, old motel. Its prices reflect the quality of the experience. It is well located and the rooms are larger than the usual motel, so if you're planning to spend all your time in the pool and on the bike path, its may be a good choice.

Our staff and owners always strive to provide the best possible experience for our guests. Although we have been in business here for over 40 yrs and have been satisfying-- in many cases several generations of families/guest-- we are never-the-less disappointed when we are unable to meet all of our guests'expectations--
Our rooms here are always throughly cleaned and inspected by our head housekkeeper prior to each guests arrival--and we would not rent any rooms to any arriving guests which weren't clean.
Our staff are continually painting and repairing our buildings and rooms.
We take pride in the fact that we offer our guests-- and their pets-- a good value for their vacation here on Cape Cod --
We look forward to welcoming back our many repeat guests--and continuing to satisfy all of those who appreciate our great location, our sparkling outdoor pool, and clean comfortable rooms-all at a great value-

The only thing up to date in this motel is the TV. The rooms are sparsely furnished with outdated cheap rickety furniture.

I do believe in "you get what you pay for", but having stayed in some other inexpensive motels in the Orleans area, this motel would be more appropriately priced in the $60 to $90 a night range.

This motel is in dire need of renovations. The room's furnishings from the beds, the furniture and the carpeting look like they've been in place since the early 70's.
