Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Seafood Nation loves our outpost in Peabody, at the junction of Routes 128 and 114. Those traveling to and from the beaches in Cape Ann are known to jump ship for some fresh catch. And those considering a fishing trip, visit us instead. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

I've been coming to various Legal Sea foods since it opened in Boston when I was a kid. Always fresh, good quality and consistently good no matter where you go. It's a bit pricey but you always know what you're going to get.

In addition to tasty fish dishes, the service is most accommodating.....atmosphere is good and dining is relaxed.

I got a dish with Jasmine rice. There had to have been 1 pound of cheese melted over rice and garnished with broccoli. Now, this normally would be fine, but I paid $17 for this dish. Anyone with a rice cooker and microwave could make, and that is exactly what it tasted like.

The wife got a shrimp dish. The shrimp were not fresh. They were tough and fibrous and tasted like a freezer.

Had the prices matched the quality of the food, then I would have given Legal Seafoods a better rating. But because there is such a huge disparity between price and quality, they deserve 2 stars.

If you want excellent seafood that is priced fairly, travel up route 1 and go to the Sea Witch.

The blackened raw tuna sashimi appetizer and blue cheese wedge salad were fabulous! I would highly recommend both. And the warm rolls are always yummy!

Legal Seafood is always excellent and is a little pricy but you won't find a better meal for the price and the rolls are always hot and very tasty. Now they have a complete gluten free menu that is extensive and the food is the best tasting food for gluten free you will find. the gluten free rolls are really very good much to our surprise.
